Let's have a bit of perspective for a moment.
Top Gear rip the piss out of Audi drivers, BMW drivers, American / Australian car manufacturers and drivers, hillbillies, bankers, each other, politicians, actors, gay people, women, slow boring cars / drivers, people carriers, Morris Marinas and the owners club, Reliants and their drivers, gypsies, religion, the BBC, Fifth Gear, TVRs, short people, tall people bald people, hairy people, beards - pretty much everything, and many things which I resemble.
Without this, there is no show. We are back to Noel Edmunds car reviews. To address one element is simply not fair. They do not portray specific 'isms, they seem to be have something against everyone. So, it's the old story. Whingers deploy PCness when it suits the downtrodden individual and laugh / tolerate the other stuff. There is a word for it, I will leave it to someone else to raise it.
I'd just prefer to have am open sense of humour and recognise that this programme, like many others is totally irreverant, and is likely to offend some people. Personally, I wouldn't have it any other way. I despise PC hand wringers unless the jibe is obviously venomous. With heavy irony, I want people to stop attacking my apparent minority standing of being non PC as long as you have a go at everyone, and I am offended by PCness against that and may make a complaint (now sort out that paradox). Will someone take up our cause to defend our diminishing rights...
In this country, we used to have the ability to laugh at ourselves and others. We seem to have lost that joy.
Let them complain. Ignore them. Move on to the next victims. Laugh lots in the TG office at the obvious misreading of the broadcast content by the hand wringers.
Bernard Manning also took the piss out of every culture , colour and creed . Also had a few digs at himself for being a fat ferker but I never did find his brand of humour particularly funnyTop Gear rip the piss out of Audi drivers, BMW drivers, American / Australian car manufacturers and drivers, hillbillies, bankers, each other, politicians, actors, gay people, women, slow boring cars / drivers, people carriers, Morris Marinas and the owners club, Reliants and their drivers, gypsies, religion, the BBC, Fifth Gear, TVRs, short people, tall people bald people, hairy people, beards - pretty much everything, and many things which I resemble.

Stuff bashing political correctness
Stewart Lee on political correctness. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGAOCVwLrXo&fea...
You should watch it.
Then you've got to remember that Top Gear isn't just a UK show. It's exported all around the world.
This isn't a case of 'Political correctness gone mad' is a case of a tactless chump saying some rather bigoted and vindictive things that he simply shouldn't have.
He's a TV personality and with that comes some responsibility.

A lot of keyboard warrior style ranting .
You do seem to be rather angry don't you? Now, now, didn't mummy tell you that you shouldn't get uptight, you might macaroni your pants again.
I can just imagine you now, shouting and squirming at the keyboard all riled up and jolly baitey. You need to calm down, it's the internet, you don't need to be a toilet here as well
I look forward to your next bile laden, pretending to be all hard and sinister reply. Hopefully after you've had some boe boe's time and woken up all envigorated and ready for school.

I am not saying you have to. I am similarly not saying that nobody should. I am not forcing my opinions on what is funny or not on you. I am not forcing my opinions of what is allowable or not not you. I am leaving you the freedom to choose. Is it happens, I didn't find him funny either, but I repeat, that is not a rule.

Stuff promoting political correctness with a link to a very unfunny video
If that is PC humour, Ahm oot. For those that that do not want to waste some valuable minutes of their life, I will summarise the clip.
A dour comic with a face like a smacked arse and a mind to match took the piss out of old folks mis relating H&S issues to PC, and then hammered his microphone against the mic stand for several minutes whilst directing an attack at an insignificant journalist.
Whilst I do not find it in the slightest bit funny, I would defend his right to be able to deliver that material for those that might.

I thought the Mexican bit was just a deliberate attempt to cause controversy. No idea why they picked Mexicans though
They had already attacked the Americans and Australians via their cars and lifestyle choices in other episodes, so didn't want to repeat themselves.Funny, nobody complained about those transgressions of decency. It didn't make national press. I wonder why.

I think Stewart Lee would be happy that you didn't like it. For those that that do not want to waste some valuable minutes of their life, I will summarise the clip.

You probably come under the category of people that come up to him after the show

You obviously know the man better than I do - I cannot comment or it would only be out of ignorance. With your similar background of ignorance in knowing me, I can assert for your better knowledge that I do not "probably come under the category" you describe in the slightest. I wouldn't go up to a performer after a show if I liked their material or not. I paid my money and took my chances with some idea of what I was going to have presented to me. Same as I do with television. If I do not like the idea of it, I don't make the effort to watch it. If it is on and I find it offensive or unengaging, I mutter and turn it off / over. You probably come under the category of people that come up to him after the show
The fact that I was advised by you to watch this with relevance to what I had posted meant that I took that advice, watched it all the way through and commented back to you, the advisor or educator on my thoughts after the viewing. If the performer had recommended his own show to me, maybe I would make an exception and feedback to him in the same way I have to you, but by and large they do not recommend their narrow brand of humour as a vain attempt to make me change my outlook on life.

Nice to see a SIARPC for once not peddling a new book / programme / film / product to be honest.
It used to be people JC thought were petrolhead types / interesting etc but recently it has just been a massive promo slot of one the BBC.
Maybe someone from TG read my suggestions (earlier in this thread) about the guests and the criticism that they only seem to appear as they have something to plug.It used to be people JC thought were petrolhead types / interesting etc but recently it has just been a massive promo slot of one the BBC.
Agree with you I thought Becker was excellent, I hope the TG back room staff can come up with another interesting person with nothing to plug!

Now being sued
BBC article said:
Lawyers for Iris de la Torre, a 30 year-old jewellery design student, said the BBC had used racism to boost ratings and could cost the Corporation up to £1million in damages.
In the episode, which was viewed by more than 6 million people, Richard Hammond claimed that cars imitate national characteristics.
"Mexican cars are just going to be a lazy, feckless, flatulent, oaf with a moustache leaning against a fence asleep looking at a cactus with a blanket with a hole in the middle on as a coat," he said.
Jeremy Clarkson went on to joke that being Mexican would be "brilliant" because then he could sleep all day.
The Mexican ambassador to Britain has already made an official complaint to the BBC for the programme's "xenophobic" and "offensive" content and demanded an apology.
De la Torres' lawyers, from the firm Equal Justice, also brought legal action against Channel 4 following remarks made about Shilpa Shetty during Celebrity Big Brother.
In a legal complaint to the BBC they claim that the remarks are unlawful and a breach of rules banning discrimination by public bodies, according to a report by The Guardian.
De la Torre said: "I was shocked at what the BBC allowed to be broadcast...I do not understand how such ignorant people hold such high-profile jobs."
If taken to court it could become the first case to be brought under the Equality Act which came into effect in September last year.
Lawrence Davies, from Equal Justice, said: "These remarks were probably calculated and deliberate to fuel anger and hence boost ratings - the presenters apparently feel that they are fighting a battle against political correctness."
The BBC said it had not yet received the legal letter but said that it would be dealt with through appropriate channels.
