Last nights episode was some of the best TV I have ever watched, amazing acting and very impressive all round.
The final episode is going to be absolutely fantastic, I hope they make more.
Completely agree - I think it has been a superb TV drama so far. It packs the full gambit of emotions and really pushes 'out the screen' so to speak. The final episode is going to be absolutely fantastic, I hope they make more.
Episode three was extremely dark towards the end but it was a honest, non-sensational scene which truely conveyed the horror of that particular crime. I cannot understand why people would criticise it for being hard to watch or overly dark - how can you lighten something like that up FFS?!
I think Channel 4 and the team behind the series should be applauded and rewarded for making and showing a proper adult drama without softening the edges out. British TV has little time or motivation to produce properly gripping drama (compared to the USA) and This Is England '86 really highlights how mediocre and homogenised most other UK drama are IMO.
Cannot wait for the final episode next week and looking forward to This Is England '90 already.
Other than that, I tend to concur.

Anyone else think Combo is going to kick the st out of Lol's dad?
I hope so... Also, doesn't Lol's dad look like the bloke from gangster No 1? Eddie Marson I think his name is.Edited by Blue Meanie on Wednesday 22 September 22:49

I found myself looking at funny videos on the internet after that last few minutes to try and bring myself round.
Very raw indeed
Becuase you were upset or angry?Very raw indeed
I was fuming. Really, really annoyed. Weird, it's only tv but it really made me very angry with Lols dad. Properly angry, not just 'it's a tv programme and I'll forget about it in a few minutes angry', but 'actually' angry.
Excellent series though, I can't decide if the girl who plays Smell is the worst actress on the face of the planet or an absolute star. The scenes with her and 'The Ginge' are superb, as if they're just making it up as they go along.

Nottingham? although it's supposed to be 'loosely based on' his childhood and he grew up in Uttoxeter. I think it's generic midlands, really. It's shot in Sheffield.
Thought I recognised some of it. Where the football/fight scene was looks like the old page hall flats in sheffieldEdited by Pothole on Thursday 23 September 10:07
