I wonder if not many builds started during covid, so they are lining up a number of revisits

That’s two weeks in a row we’ve sat down to watch it and it’s not been on. Why the break? Is it on next week?

You should get yourself a TV guide

We dont get TV reception here, nor satellite, so we watch exclusively on catch-up. We only watch 3 specific programs a week, with GD being one of them.

But thank you for being helpful.

It's back next week or the week after, mentioned on their Facebook page that it was going to be off for two or three weeks. (It did say whether it was two or three, I just can't remember).

It said after the last show it wouldn't be back for three weeks. Usually when they do that it's because sports or awards ceremonies are on. It seems this time they just showed that strange show with Kevin trying to be all eco friendly.

It doesn't matter what any incoming govt want to do, planning departments can't do squat without enough staff.
This. Ours is on its knees, I know.
Well you could change the Guidelines to be more akin to "the answer is Yes, now what's the question" and put the onus on the objectors to fund the legal challenges. Would need to be structured such as making it smaller OK, bigger is subject to standard tests and taking the piss returns a No. The whole thing needs to be simplified to keep the pedants at bay.
There still needs to be a trainee planner to do that basic admin and they aren't there after 30 years of councils being squeezed.

Looking forward to this one, isn’t this the build that needed divers to check the foundations?

The latest series of New Zealand Grand Designs is ticking along nicely. They weren't as affected with the non-stop series of nonsensically random lockdowns as we were, so even though builds were impacted, it was not much worse than the sort of 'normal' delays you might get (mostly due to shortage of materials) and of course, much higher prices for the building materials wrecking budgets.

There have been some stunning builds too .. last couple I saw were a huge mansion type thing near the beach (which looked pretty amazing) and a sort of 'glass house' where the middle section had a garden in it, with living areas at both ends. Oddball, but very well done. There was proper discussion of the design principles and building techniques employed and the 'drama' presented come from regular build issues.

To check the tunnels under the road I think?

Didn't think much of how the flour mill project treated retaining some features (lots came out that maybe could have been better reused, like the millstone floor could have been better handled) but they did have the measure of Kevin's moaning about every single bit of old tat and that he could fk off...

Where do you watch the NZ one? I've seen the Aussie one on C4 but not the NZ one.

No, it's an even grander one. Kind of a modern style mini-mansion near some dunes and bushes a short distance from the beach itself.

Ah - it actually got recommended on YT when I clicked your link, this one:

I do notice that Aus and NZ Grand Designs full episodes pop up on Youtube regularly.. Surprised their copyright ID system doesn't take them down immediately, I guess that the studios from Down Under aren't as on the ball with this stuff.

I get mine on the high seas but it looks like they also sometimes make it to Youtube (see other post).

I think Channel 5 used to air the NZ one, maybe still do? It's a good show with brand recognition so I'm sure it gets picked up by some channel or other.
