do 'get' the Ned character a bit, but I think it's a bit hypocritical to attack one guy with 4 without any problems, then when he gets stabbed from behind he goes all nobel on him.
He is attacking the most formidable fighter on the continent though, to save his sister. It's like Captain America getting a few other soldiers to attack the Hulk.Something the producers said in their post-ep interview, that at this stage, Ned has seen thousands of people die, he is a changed man and this sort of 'chivalry' turning war into games is a factor.
Yeah I can see the trial by combat being a judo move by the High Sparrow- Cersei elects the Mountain and the Faith put out either the brainwashed Lannister boy, Margery or ser Loras knowing they'll be splatted and split the Royal houses.
Margery is popular with the people so losing her would strengthen the Faith's hand against the crown. Or the high septin himself could be a martyr.
I don't see why the Hound being saved by the church of the seven should be so hard. Blasphemous and irreverent he may be, but he's more honest than half of the knights of the realm, has plenty to confess and Mels' god likes him more than the butchers boy!

The High Sparrow is the city leader of a loose alliance of the groundswell of ill-feeling from the smallfolk (peasants) and the Faith Militant. This is a rising that crosses across all the areas where that war affected. I can see parts of the sparrow movement that would welcome the Hound completely, if he repented then even ore so. The Hound was a broken man both physically, spiritually and mentally when we last saw him.
Is there an episode titled rebirth or similar coming up?
We all know Martin loves his history, there are nice similarities between the sparrows movement and the peasants revolt, against a weak teenage king, Ric2.

What would the church be doing up in a random valley near the Vale to find the Hound in the first place. He's more likely to be found by one of the Arryn clan or their bannermen or even Peter Baelish but only if they happened to be travelling off road.
The Sparrows movement is across a fair chunk of the country, and there is a sort of pilgrimage happening to go to King's Landing, in the books it is, and I can't recall last series what they have said of the sparrows...but I am gonna guess it's roughly the same.Walter Sobchak said:
Does anyone else find the High Sparrow and the Faith Millitant incredibly irritating?, where's Maegor Targaryen when you need him.
Honestly I'd be clapping my hands if they're all burnt alive. And I'm not at all sadistic. Ramsey, on the other hand, is a great villain. He needs to die, badly (obviously) but I'd be sorry to see him go.

Is it just me thats bugged that there were supposed to be three knights at the tower of joy and there were only two? Im half expecting Ned to run into the third inside the tower.
I was hoping for three. The scene was done pretty well but I'd prefer less of the 'sword spinning' stuff.Motorsport_is_Expensive said:

A slow painful death.Ramsey, on the other hand, is a great villain. He needs to die, badly (obviously) but I'd be sorry to see him go.

Yes! fking typical pious religious creep! Smug tt!The fella who played Dayne is a top HEMA guy, I have mates who went for that role. I think all the other fellss were those who auditioned as well. When you cast fighters, the fights look good.
too soon?
I like him. He has really captured that smug "ah yes, but I have a relationship with the Gods" vibe that some religious people have. I can't quite see his game plan though.
Arya seemed to leap a year this single episode, Kings Landing seems to have moved three days, if that!
They seem to be expecting trial by combat. I can't see the sparrow not also expecting this and even if the mountain were dead, the crown would have better champuions than the church.
Unless it's a ploy to get all the royals in one place and have the small folk kill then all like the games at Mereen last season. But that would be noticed by spies, surely.
Edit- that hanging scene was really well done. I don't know how they can make the physics look so good without endangering the actors.
