That's kind of what I expected, but thought it might be a spectacle...

its been a lot better than series 1. they have done some quite good episodes in my opinion and theres the bonus of having a pro driver as a host.
they still do the same sort of sillyness as tguk but it seems less like last of the summer wine, which is how the "funny" bits in tguk is getting.

added bonus is their siarpc bit is a lot shorter than on tguk!

watch the pickup challenge and beating tanner from s2 and its a very refreshing change from the uk version.

In the absence of British TG, I've watched all the US episodes. Not brilliant, but still pretty good tbh, even more 'challenge' based than the UK series though so if you don't like the challenges, I would advise against watching the US show.

Haven't seen TG USA but i have seen a bit of the Australian series 1 with Charlie Cox (Clarkson), the racing driver, umm, Steve Pizzato?? (Hammond), and the cartoonist with a moustache (May). I thought it was alright, anybody seen it to compare with USA and UK?

I'll second the comments that the second series has much improved, and one thing is for sure - its definitely a lot better than early series of TG UK.

Its taken 15 years to get the UK show to where it is, you can't expect someone else trying the same to get it right straight out, and reckon that the yanks are now doing a pretty good job.

Way better than the ozzies, I've tried watching their show, I've really tried, but its just so awkward. Although the TG Ashes episode was a cracker.

Yeah, S1 of the US Top Gear was basically UK Top Gear with silly accents. It didn't really work in the shortened time either. So they've cut out "the news" and made SIARPC much shorter to leave more time for the occasional supercar/truck review and lots of cocking about in crap cars, and taking the piss out of each other. So in that respect they've made it a lot better.

The editing is terrible- some of the tracking shots are sped up, and the audio is mismatched. Even during a one mile drag race, the audio suggests that they're backing off the throttle, or suddenly in a lower gear than they actually are. I didn't expect the presenters to be as good as original Top Gear, but they could at least get the basics right...

It's odd though that they have a pro-driver (and a damn good one at that) as a presenter..... but still have a pro-driver as a Stig....?

Is it just me, or did the Stig look like a ten year old in that Viper?

I've watched a few and it gets better, although even the new ones aren't great. It's sort of the reverse of the UK one in that the banter gets less forced and scripted as time goes on.
