I can see the appeal of Willis for this movie, but surely Van Damme in the Kirsten Dunst role and Seagal cast instead of Charlotte Gainsbourg would have given more gravitas and depth. Disappointing.
Also, I think if the horses had been replaced with, say, muscle cars, it would have been more profound. Thought it was a disturbing and fascinating insight into depression but a really crap end of the world film.
Bodies much smaller than that planet passing so close would have heralded all sorts of seismic and atmospheric related disasters long before the final climax.
Shoot it again with 2012/The Day after Tomorrow/The Day the Earth Stood Still type scenarios/effects plus Bruce heading a last ditch mission to blow that planet to smithereens and then you would have had a top notch movie.

Ok, so-
There are one or two things to this film that make me think it isn't an end of the world movie. The question asked twice was "How many holes does our golf course have", but then if you look closely at the flag on the hole towards the end of the film it all becomes a bit complicated. There is the other issue of quite why nobody ever manages to get across that little bridge.
I'm of the mind that it's written at least partially as a psychotic episode rather than a simple apocalypse.
