I didn't think Hitler liked Zeppelins.

their first one is really good.....and if you join the club on their site you get a really nice t-shirt and a 'trying to make iron skies' DVD which is really interesting and amusingly honest.

It does look rather like a cut scene from a computer game. Having said that, I love low budget sci-fi / comedy, and if they can pull this off it could well be worth watching.

It reminds me of this:

Kinda "Call of Cthulthu" steampunk-ish.

Oh good!

Err, if this is supposed to be a comedy, I have yet to see any evidence in the trailers.

Where are those pictures from? They look good.

Is it a show, or just some artists impression of something?

They are artist's exaggerations of an actual Russian aircarft built in the 1930s. The real thing, which was not so impressive, was really too heavy to fly properly. The Russians seem to have a fascination with building really large aircraft - a fascination which continues to this day.

Reminds me of the enormous Ekranoplan flying boat planes the Russians experimented with in secret.

The FAR side of the moon is often referred to INCORRECTLY as the "dark side". People who know what they are talking about never confuse the two notions.

Obviously, there is always a "dark side" of the moon i.e. a side on which it happens to be night time - just like there is a "dark side" to the earth or any other planet or moon in the solar system.

The entirety of the moon receives sunlight at some point in the lunar day. The lunar day lasts 28 earth days, which means that all parts of the moon receive 14 days of sunshine and 14 days of darkness.

^^^ Well, that has completely destroyed Pink Floyd then. I am not sure about 'The Far Side of the Moon' album hehe

Looking up at the moon at its rotation and the earth rotation.... how often do the two points correspond?

When the side facing the earth is full, the far side is completely dark. Therefore, at that point, the far side is the "dark side" This moment occurs once every 28 days in the lunar cycle.

The full moon picture below illustrates that if the side facing the earth is fully lit (i.e 50% of the moon) the far side (the other 50%) will be completely dark)

In this shot of a thin crescent moon, only a small part of the side facing the earth is lit by the sun. On the other hand, most of the far side will be in bright sunlight i.e. not a "dark side" at all.

If their previous film is anything to go by, this should be entertaining, but its been in the making for *years*

The previous film - Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning, was a weird mash up of Star Trek and Babylon 5, total piss take of various characters from each series. If you ever liked Star Trek or Babylon 5, you'll (hopefully) like Star Wreck.

Hey there,

Well now. I really didn't think PistonHeads would be the place to find practically anything about Iron Sky. Shows how wrong you can be smile

Anyway, yeah, in case you're interested about the movie, post a note to this thread or give me a holler in private. I'm the publicist for Iron Sky, so I can tell you quite a bit about what the movie is all about.

But, for starters, I suggest you visit our home page, http://www.ironsky.net/, and our Facebook page, as those sites have plenty of content to dig into.

The premiere of the movie is April 4th 2012, so keep watching the skies. The Moon Nazis are about to invade smile

I was starting to think that Iron Sky was in development hell, although I hadn't checked on the status for way too long. Good to see a release date, definitely one to watch!
