Apologies if there is another thread running about this programme.

Why do programme makers not research things properly?

Just watching the final part of the series, and they have a deliberating Jury, who appear to be able to leave the deliberation room and even the court building for lunch before they have reached a verdict!

As someone who has been a jury member on a heavy duty trial, that was certainly not my experience. You were effectively locked in a room, until you reached a verdict, or the judge called you back into court.

As for lunch, the ushers opened the door, and effectively chucked a few sandwiches in, before locking you in again!

Really annoys me when programme makers do this.

I've been watching it all week waiting for a big climax........but............ Nothing. For me massive anticlimax. However, excellent characters and well acted.

finally got around to watching (the last 3 episodes) at the weekend... rather enjoyed it... Did wonder though... the juror he met outside of the courtroom after he was acquited, was not in the final scene... what became of her? Maybe HE was guilty after all, an opinion I did NOT have for the rest of the show..

This.

As for the series, it was ok, but not a patch on "Hidden" or "The Shadow Line"

I really enjoyed it, right up until the end. Absolutely NO explanation was given as to why the jury had unanimously swung to a not-guilty verdict?

The only new information (not evidence as it wasn't declared in the court room) was that the jury foreman had been compromised by one of the victims relatives.

The very strong circumstantial evidence still stood didn't it? Also witnessed was the very irrational behaviour whilst in the dock.

Isn't it "beyond reasonable doubt" not "absolute"?

The last episode was so utterly incorrect it spoiled the whole series.

The story was totally unrealistic.

Jurors are simply NOT Allowed to leave the court room while deliberating their verdict. They are taken to a separate area and food is brought to them. They even provide dedicated loos the public cannot access.

When the guy revealed he has been in touch with an outside person who had taken part in the previous trial - every and any member of the jury would be obliged to report it to the clerk.

The process was compromised. An appeal and subsequent mistrial / or a requirement to start over with a new jury would have had to happen.

In short it was rubbish. I was annoyed that I had wasted several hours of my life.

And it gave a totally misleading picture of how a jury works.

Yep - agree with all of this.

Lots of little mistakes too.

When the jury first retired, the foreman started discussing reaching a majority. They would have been instructed to reach unanimous. Only after many hours and no unanimous, would a judge call them back in, and say what level of majority he will accept.

Plus, the asian lad doing his own research into the case? Not allowed. The judge always makes that VERY clear.

Having read the above post, I agree... A waste of a few hours of my life.

I agree that there were several (major mistakes) I have done jury service twice, so I am familiar with the procedures, I found it enjoyable, since when are all programmes completely factual?
