Is Guy Martin the new Fred Dibnah?

He really does remind me of Fred for some reason, If you have seen his TT dvd you mat not totally agree, but if you check out this video you may agree with me.

I hope Guy get a lot more air time on tv soon

He's a nice down to earth bloke, but I can't stand listening to him for more than about 5 mins.

Does he go around blowing up chimney stacks?

He does have an epic pair of sideburns though that deserve a TV show all of their own!

Lots of people are saying as much.

I think the links are the sheer enthusiasm he show for engineering / manufacturing and he's Northern ha ha, oh and very friendly.

Other than that they're very different. Guy's very young, and just a ball of energy, by the time Fred was doing his TV thing he was getting on a bit and a very relaxed man. I can't imagine Guy spending decades restoring a traction engine and then driving for hours at 4mph to show it off - he likes to travel a little quicker.

I love watching them both on TV, really enjoyed the Boat thing and the Orange Bike visit above and really hope Guy gets another TV show.

He's been talking about riding the Mega for years as a treat if he wins a TT, THAT would make a great show - well Mountain Bikers might enjoy it anyway ha ha.

Having bought a GM T Shirt years before 98% of the UK population had heard of him. I consider myself a fan.

But I wish he'd put more effort into winning a TT than all this fanny around on TV ste. Hutchy was sadly right when he said GM lacks the total commitment to win. When he gets that he'll destroy them smile

I though the boat guy built was fantastic. I've saved linked video for viewing later, thanks for posting it up OP.

Yep, amazing series and he is a hugely entertaining lunatic.

I would rather he concentrate on riding for a few years, tv will be there a lot longer than his TT chances.

I like him. However he's constant reminder to us of 'Im just a diesel fitter' is tedious. He said he doesn't want to be known as a celebrity or TV personality then why market yourself in such a way? I saw the other day he's signed up to do series for channel 4. He has a certain appeal though. I have no intrest in sheep dog trials but watched the whole lot cause he was presenting!

You can't get much slower than chugging along on a narrowboat! I thought "The Boat That Guy Built" was great. Never heard of him till that series and even then I didn't know who he was. He was always "that northern boat guy with the lamb chops". Didn't know he was a bit handy on motorbikes until someone pointed me in the direction of a comedy Isle of Man TT press conference video on YouTube.

To be fair, Fred got his adrenaline buzz at work - just look at the older chimney steeple-jack videos.

In the earlier videos he was still in his 40s I think, not that old. What I would like to know is, why does Guy have a Lancastrian accent despite being from Lincolnshire?

Top bloke I think. I did read he's just bought a Rolls Royce Merlin engine to play with.
