Unleashed something of a monster when I began this thread didn't I
Anyway......an update. Yes I've been listening to Local radio in the morning this week, I did try MH but just couldn't listen to such tedious drivel!
The only stand ins I rate on Radio 2 are Richard Allison & Craig Charles. Can't abide Tarbuck's voice & laugh, Zoe Ball is just incompetent & shambolic, Graham Norton.......can't abide the man either on radio or tv, & Tarrant (as mentioned in the original post) whilst he does play excellent music just adores his own voice soooooo much. Noel Gallagher though was suprisingly superb in for Dermot O'Dreary a few weeks ago.
As the originator of the thread I should voice an opinion on the current lineup.....well.......
Chris Evans - in my opinion the epitome of the professional broadcaster, yes there are some (VERY) annoying aspects to the show, but on the whole the pick of the bunch.
Ken Bruce - well he's an institution really, no I can't understand what he's saying most of the time, but decent music & where would we be without Popmaster????????
Jezza Vine - really didn't realise there was so much I could have an opinion about, CD's very frequently make an appearence between 12 & 2!
Our beloved Steve Wright - not terribly popular is he!
Did you know.......Steve Wright isn't QUITE as nauseating as Chris Tarrant.........now THAT'S a factoid.
Simon Mayo - pretty inofensive, decent music.
Anything after 7pm aside of the great Paul Jones on Mondays is unlistenable!
I miss Radcliffe & Maconie too!
Phew, got all that off my chest! Why do I listen to Radio2 you ask........here in deepest darkest Mid/South Wales it is one of two radio stations I can get on the workshop radio!!
