When I was a kid [retro rose tinted analysis coming up] I used to love programs such as Equinox, Tomorrow's World, and The Great Egg Race. I found them inspirational, funny, and a great way to learn. Same with Johnny Ball and David Bellamy (ignoring their current rants for the moment), very engaging presenters and very educational.

Is there anything out there today that can match these programs for educational and entertainment content, especially for kids? For some reason program makers seem to think that science programs have to be more entertainment and joking around than anything else, but when I was young I would gladly sit and listen, I found it fascinating. I didn't need Dick & Dom (or whoever) to spice it up.

My son seems very much in the same mindset as me, I would love for him to be able to see something similar as he's growing up.

Bang Goes The Theory sounds really good, thanks for the suggestion. What age group would you say it was aimed at?
