Gove, the education secretary is suggesting we spend £60 million of tax payers money on a new yacht for the queens birthday..

gove said:
Gove ends his letter by suggesting that if insufficient taxpayer funds are available a private donation could be sought, before making a naked departmental bid for every schoolchild or school to be given a gift as a permanent reminder of the event. Gove's office confirmed the authenticity of the letter but refused to comment.
2000 teachers at £30K - £60 million.

simply brilliant.

The thieving old bag should buy her own yacht with some of the money she's already stolen from us.

Brilliant idea. It's about time she had a replacement for Britannia.

Indeed, I think we should also have kept a Concorde going as a Royal/PM's flight.

That's totally unfair. What about all the other multi-millionaires who don't have yachts? I demand they all get one too!

Hmmm, we'd best give her back what we took from her then.. Ya'know, when the deal was done... After all, fairs fair and all that.

Are we not building two aircraft carriers ? And that the consensus is generally agreed we do not need/or can afford one/either/both.........? We certainly have not got any in service aircraft that can use it.

So, here you are Mrs Majesty, a gift from your subjects to celebrate this momentus occasion. One is even already to be called HMS Queen Elizabeth.

Perfect. Its home port could even be Stanley to help keep our South American friends on the right side when its not on specific Royal duties.........

It could probably be built quite cheaply in Vietnam.

Wasn't the plan to use this for private hire when not in use. So would be profitable?
