''Labour leader Ed Miliband has promised to deter firms from exclusively employing workers from overseas, admitting his party "got it wrong" on immigration when in government.

He said Gordon Brown and Tony Blair should not have allowed uncontrolled immigration from new EU states in 2004....''

Stable door, horse bolted comes to mind.

The big numbers are probably from the Indian sub-continent, and virtually no chance of any of them going back.

No change to free movement of labour within EU.
Unfortunately this needs to be addressed before any meaningful change actually happens.

He also failed to state what he will suggest doing when a million Greeks arrive when they crash out of the Euro... and Spain does, and Italy etc...

I don't see it that way personally. There are two issues. EU immigrants which for the most aprt are going to be white can come here freely and set up shop. I can't speak for India or most Africans but I do know if you haven't got a visa in Jamaica you're not coming to this country. (short of seriously falsifying your papers). Sure some people will come on student visas and overstay their welcome which is a big issue but I don't forsee it being the same problem. Africans will be mostly coming here as students or refugees.

My personal opinion. I don't particuarly care what colour or counrty people come from but we're a small counrty with a small amount of resources and you can't just allow people to flood en masse with no thought about where they're going to live, where they will work, how they will study, support and feed themselves.

The only worrying thing about Labour telling us they got it wrong is that you worry they're getting it wrong.

Certainly an element of horse-stable-bolted about this but at least he's acknowledged it, you have to give him that at least. Immigration was the issue nobody dare talk about under the last Government and an issue the Labour Government pretended did not exist. Maybe with the Cameron Government failing to bring immigration back to the pre-1997 levels like he pledged two years ago, Miliband has worked out immigration could actually be a key election issue.

He certainly needs an alternative to the broken record of 'jobs and growth' because people are losing interest.

I have an African friend who studied in the UK. Her family payed her uni fees and provided money for living. Studied for 4 Years at a good uni. She's now working in UK, pays her visa annually and is entitled to no benefits. These are the people we want to attract.
You couldn't meet a nicer person too.

It's the EU migrant workers that's causing a drain on our resources. As most are on low wages, pay little tax and are entitled to all the benefits.

And the quote about rubbing 'the rights' nose in diversity should be mentioned on every news broadcast.

Where's Poland on that list? I seem to recall Labout admitting that, after Bliar said that only 30,000 would arrive after enlargement, the actual figure was 600,000 in the first year?

He's on R4 now.

They are playing clips of the nasally-challenged pillock now.

Remarkable.

Now take his words & show a picture of Enoch P.

I think it's less a case of bolting the stable door and more a case of you big fat lying bd.

The sniveling git will say anything to get himself elected and when he is what then? The left of his party will rip him a new one if he ever tried to stop their vision of a wonderful multi cultural utopia and he sodding well knows it.

Slimy tosspot.

Care to explain how that makes him any different than David Cameron? Change 'left' for 'right' and swap 'multi cultural utopia' for 'low immigration competative society' or some bks like that and you've got the same person.
