In what circumstances would someone prefer to rely on a mop rather than a milk bottle?
I’ll take that as you understanding but lacking the courage to admit you were wrong.

So, it appears that Russell Brand is strongly rejecting claims from a newspaper, (Sunday Times?) and a TV channel/show (C4 Dispatches?), this was reported on the radio this morning.

If this (plus other individuals it may seem) is the subject of a joint media exposé, I am wondering about the timing and the subject matter.

We've some pretty messy stories in government that ought to receive proper media examination, plus we've had the story about Dan Wooton's activities implicating the Mail, Sun and GB News that generated barely a ripple.

Yet the media went mad about Philip Schofield, Huw Edwards, and possibly this one too. This one of course could be a story off the scale, rocking society's foundations, but it does feel a bit misplaced given what we are seeing at higher levels, and a distraction tactic. We shall see....

Very similar approach by Brand to Wootton too in so much as rather than addressing the actual allegations attack the people making them and suggest it's all a plot against him by enemies.

Bit odd but not entirely surprising seeing the likes of Bev Turner and Lawrence Fox backing him when presumably they have no idea what is or isn't being alleged just like the rest of us don't.

You’d think so. Might have been idea for the complainant(s) to have gone there first really, rather than Channel 4…
Well the likes of Weinstein and Epstein show us that it’s not always listened to.
Nevertheless it’s a decent starting point for a first attempt! The UK police love a juicy celebrity arrest!

You think the paper/program have given Brand the details of the accusations before they reveal them? Difficult to address the actual accusations if you do not know what they are...

Well as he refutes them I’d say yes they have.

Yes, the accusations will be put to the accused before going to air/print and they will be given the chance to respond

What they could dig out about Brand that the world didn't already know, it's not like he was ever exactly shy about any of his activities however much they upset people.

Also wonder how fresh these allegations are going to be?

Plus if it really is the names that have been mentioned, is it actually news to anyone if it's shown they're tts? Short of it being a Satanic cult doing child sacrifice I doubt anyone will be too shocked at whatever is reported.

Is this going to turn out to be the same old pattern we've seen before of a lot of noisy but vague historic claims, with no particular evidence of anything illegal but just grubby? Tabloid fodder to wind up outrage and nothing substantial? That they've had to do this sort of launch for the story to build hype isn't pointing at it being too great.

Given he's made a three minute video in which he says he's been sent letters about what they're going to allege and he refutes it I'd say he has a reasonable idea.

The point was more why all the st about shadowy forces and enemies coming for him?

And how can anyone be supporting him and going all Niemöller (as Fox did) when they literally have no idea what is coming?

It seems to have turned into some weird political thing for some people rather than about whether whatever is alleged actually happened.

The interesting thing about this is that it might put discussion of the lead item on todays Times onto the back burner.

The one about the government not only slipping 75 million to BMW to help them build the electric Mini here but also a reassurance from them to the German company that the UK will stick to 2030 as the deadline for banning the sale of i/c vehicles.

Name them, then.
David Walliams name is all over Twitter as you could easily see for yourself. Not sure why you think it’s such a big deal. Nothing has been said yet, only that there might be a story.
Nah, can't be him, someone else writes his books. wink

I tend to take the view he and Jonathan Ross should never have been on TV again after that piece of sthousery.
Totally agree.

So what's he done?

I'm going to put it out there that I'll neither be shocked or surprised.

It's out of the Trump PR handbook. Deny, fake news, attack the media, its a witch hunt. Doesn't even have to refute the actual claims just say that it's a media vendetta against him because he "speaks the truth".

Welcome.

So rather than ignoring the allegations as you suggested he has refuted them? I cannot see past 'we have somebody who accuses you of sexual misconduct' what more he could do.
I doubt he was provided with the full info of what he was being accessed of past generalisms.
Rather like if I said to you I was going to accuse you of breaking PH rules tomorrow. All you could say is no I haven't until I revealed the details. You might however suggest that I was picking on you because we disagreed on things.
