There's something about big terrorist acts that just guarantees retribution. No way can Israel just shrug it off.
I suspect this is not terrorism as such, it's war, with war crimes.
The state of Gaza has invaded Israel, led by its government.

That changes the legalese of it all?

Isn't a paraglider a ridiculously easy target? Seems like a thoroughly useless attack vehicle on par with a hot air balloon.

Only once the conflict has moved into a mode where the other side will shoot at it.

In a proper war, launching crude rockets from civilian areas well within range of enemy artillery is a really crap tactic, but until war is actually declared, you can get away with it?

Why do you have to have “lefty” specs to think that the Palestinians are being oppressed by the Israelis?

I can empathise with both sides - particularly the majority of innocents on both sides - but there seems to be a lot of hypocrisy in the west, where Hamas is rightly castigated for their actions yet the disproportionate response from Israel where hundreds or thousands of Palestinians are killed for every few dozen Israelis is hardly mentioned, nevertheless the trapping of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and squeezing out of Palestinians in the West Bank by illegal Israeli settlements.

In the 90s there was genuine hope of a two state solution. That pretty much died with Rabin (at the hands of a Jewish settler). Since then the pandering to the ultra religious/right wing in Israel and the much higher birth rate of the ultra religious (and the resultant demographic shift) plus the indifference of the West has seen the two state solution fall off the table. That means that most Palestinians have grown up never having experienced a realistic hope of getting their own state. That must be pretty soul destroying.
I have a long history of debating Zed we even agree now and again but mostly don't. I try and keep it peaceful as Zed almost without fail takes an aposing view.

I don't recognise your username and this is a decisive subject so respectfully I am not going to engage with you as well. You can hold whatever views you like.

Just seen the footage of the women bare foot bleeding hands bound being stuffed into the back of a jeep by group of armed men an other crowding round to abuse her.

I am 100% sure Israel will have done bad things to Palestinians but that footage will go around the world and give Israel justification to do whatever it wants.

No matter where you sit on the side of the cause you surely have to see that footage is going to lead to 1000s of deaths.

Trouble is, any criticism of Israel is seen as antisemitism.

They are a genocidal regime who would wipe any trace of Palestine off the face of the map if they could get away with.

In a way we have never seen

I don’t think we realise how big of a deal this is yet, the consequences are going to be seen worldwide. I know this is probably dramatic, but it’s not far off a 9/11 moment for Israel

You would think that but when you keep getting kicked off land that you've lived on / farmed for decades, and more and more restrictions are put on what you can do, eventually you want to strike back.
You're a shameful individual.

"Shameful individual"? Please explain rather than just spout a rather innocuous statement.

But I do see this ending badly for Palestine - potentially the "trigger point" that Israel has so desperately wanted.

If the reports of Palestinians going door to door and killing, kidnapping Jews are accurate, I think you should re-asses your position.

There are so many terrible videos circulating.

I'm not sure Israel will want to leave the door open for another day like today.

What a complete load of BS.
This has clearly been orchestrated by the Iranian government in an attempt to derail the peace deal with Saudi. It will be interesting to see what the House of Saud has to say about it in the next days.

Currently can’t see it going any other way than ‘shock and awe’ style in response. Israel isn’t exactly short on proper military options.

Absolutely shocking images coming out.

Clearly caught out in early stages but the balance is surely going to go the other way. Though this certainly seems a different type and scale of initial attack.

Paraglider is interesting but not exactly mass glinder landings was it.

They've put a statement out:

Slightly more muted than Qatar's ridiculous statement holding Israel solely responsible. rolleyes

I knew Israel were pretty geared up but just had a look at what kit their air force has and they're fking geared up. Didn't know they had Lightning's never mind 39 of them! That's on top of 100 F15's and 175 F16's!

This is going to be BIG!

Just caught up on this, feels like the whole planet is going to be embroiled in some kind of conflict.

Seems as fking stupid as my cretinous small dog annoying the two big dogs next door, which would if he got through would shred him, and looks like Hamas has got through the fence and now it going to get utterly fked by the big dogs.

This happens every now and then, is this markedly worse than the usual ?

Technically this probably is a war as Hamas are the government of Gaza. The Israelis could probably use this a pretext to retake Gaza, but whether they have the will or international response would let them is another matter.
