Ashcroft has certainly broken no law, but is clearly an unprincipled liar.

Wow.Otherwise you come across as just another frothing at the mouth, feeble minded, clueless dullard that takes their political stance from whatever bks The Mirror happens to be be promoting in any given week. Not that I'm aware they're ever had the temerity to call Ashcroft a liar in print.
Thanks in advance.

Sorry if I'm a bit dim but can you please supply some supporting evidence that he's "clearly an unprincipled liar"
Probably best ask William Hague.Jovial Joe said:

Your personal remarks are unnecessary. I am not a Mirror reader, indeed I have never read that particular publication in my entire life.Jovial Joe said:

You are welcome. As regarding my "personal remarks" I didn't accuse you of being anything, but merely stated that posting unsubstantiated allegations on an internet forum could lead to others percieving you as such.
Have a nice evening.

No need to backtrack Jovial Joe, and that's perceiving, by the way.Jovial Joe said:

I'm not trying to defend as I haven't read the whole thread, but no doubt there's criticism. Despite what may happen in terms of his tax liabilities outside the UK, I do know that he has invested £10's of millions of pounds in UK companies, including start ups, supporting them through the recession, which employ an awful lot of people. As well as employing those people who expend a lot in the economy, those companies have paid millions and millions in corporation tax, income tax, national insurance, vat. So at the very minimum he has done something more significant for the UK economy and businesses than 99% of other individuals living in the UK.
Although I did find it funny when one of his employee's answered the question of how much money did you loose when they ceased trading.
" $19,000" I did laugh quite alot! so he earns $19,000 in a month, fornight or week depending on when he got paid.
(apparently one of the guys went to the office to collect the wages, but to discover the company had completely closed down and the office closed with no one knowing)

Panorama really was a waste of time. Dramatic music, lots of talk of frauds, followed by "Lord Ashcroft had nothing to do with this".
The narrator's comment about 25 minutes in, after a lot of smearing of MAA, was "there is no evidence that Michael Ashcroft is corrupt" so what was the previous 25 minutes about? The fact that MAA is a Conservative supporter and donor comes to mind. If there is evidence of corruption anywhere in legislators' affairs let's see it, if not, the BBC should stick to wasting the licence fee on their pensions as they seem good at that.Edited to correct timing

You're assuming he was an employee and not a contractor. If he was a builder (say) it's entirely possible that he is owed this amount. " $19,000" I did laugh quite alot! so he earns $19,000 in a month, fornight or week depending on when he got paid.

Ashcroft's continued denials of any connection with a company he obviously DID have connections with do not paint a picture of an honourable or honest man. Nor do the weasel words of his lawyers. Not sure how anyone watching this programme could come out with a positive impression. Acid test: would you enter into business with him, with no misgivings?
