It's a high-profile investigation. They sometimes make the news.
The picture was accurate. Any action / lack of action will be framed negatively.
The point is we should no nothing until they have a case to answer, I don't give a crap who is being investigated, it should not be trial by media before they have even sent a file to the fking CPS.The picture was accurate. Any action / lack of action will be framed negatively.

Indeed we have no idea of the allegations or their development. So why is this on the BBC news?
Why shouldn't it be on the news? Should we only hear bad stuff about celebs once they have been found guilty and why should they have special treatment not afforded the general public? Is he going to get a fair trial?
The Judge will have to do the 'forget everything you've seen and heard about this case' routine to the jury.
How many suspected criminals have police action filmed against them from a helicopter?
The police have very proficient media and PR teams. Where does marketing and massaging a positive brand image contaminate someone's right to getting a fair trial?
Plebgate? The Email of lies from a concerned constituent that was actually a drunk police officer? How does the BBC and police working together to film the raid of Sir Cliff's pad in Berks. compare to that Email of lies from a serving police officer?
The public sector have never been known to sling mud to get their own way or divert the brown smelly stuff from their doorstep and shoes?

So South Yorkshire Police worked with the BBC to get a chopper up over Sir Cliff's pad for the police raid versus the Council in Rotherham spending £160,000* of taxpayer's money to take High Court injunction(s) out against The Times to stop them reporting about the industrial scale sexual abuse of children there?
It seems a bit inconsistent.
It may not seem wholly impartial.
I guess the police team took away stuff from Sir Cliff's pad like a team of people took files and computers from the premises of Risky Business, a youth counselling service in Rotherham?
*that £160K sum may be slightly out

No winners in that tawdry rag with regards to this article .
It's good the report into the SYP and BBC collusion over the televised raid of Sir Cliff's pad was done by a former police officer. I have the utmost faith in their impartiality in such matters.
Going on the BBC News website it seems Sir Cliff doesn't take up as much as the front cover of The Sun as the fallen Madonna's legs but it says 'Probe widens on Cliff'.

Seems like a fishing exercise to me. They'll probably end up prosecuting him for having out of date milk in the fridge...
Ditto. Why can't they get on with the investigation out of the media spotlight, and once they're done, report.
(And then spend the spare 2-3hrs a day of TV on decent programmes!).

Has there been child sexual exploitation of epidemic proportion in South Yorks?
Was Keith Vaz formerly a Councillor in London, parts of London where vulnerable kids in childrens homes may have been sexually exploited?
So why are they making it about Sir Cliff Richard?
I suppose Keith Vaz could have a need to be in the loop if any kids from care in Council homes where he was formerly a Councillor were supplied to Elm House, or any other suspected haunts of well connected kiddie fanciers?
And I'm quickly back to the realms of smoke without fire and the possibility of getting a fair trial.
Special sticky mud as approved by the Home Office and ACPO?

On a completely unrelated note, i've always been a keen enthusiast of the career of kenneth clarke, but i can't seem to find any recent information about him and his work in the press at the moment due to all this cliff richards stuff.
I appreciate i'm going off on a bit of an irrelevant tangent here, but i'm a big fan of ken's work and would like to read more about him in the press.

All a bit DLT now.
Found guilty by a jury? spaximus said:
Without deciding his guilt or otherwise the initial investigation clearly hit the buffers, but just keep on going and eventually you might get some more evidence that they can make stick.
Clearly hit the buffers? I need not point out you have no idea of the allegations and development of the investigation. If the police ignore multiple allegations then it'd be the case of "you'll get away with it if you're a celebrity" etc etc.
The approach of some on here:
The sentence given was no more than a slap on the wrist, for something that he deserved a punch in the mouth for.
To my mind it is the same with Cliff at present. If they had a case that would stand up they would have gone for it already. By keeping it in the news adding more coming forward etc. they are still fishing for facts to try to build a case.
If he is guilty he deserves everything.
But if we look at this from a different angle, if someone was accused of rape and there was not enough evidence, would the police show a picture and ask women to come forward if they had been raped? That would never fly I suspect, however is this not exactly what they are doing with CR?
I am just a bit uncomfortable with they way after Operation Yewtree went that fairness seems missing.
