Can't really argue with any of that."I think the Conservative Party today is in a very different place."
As you know he was one of the loudest shouting to block the Ipswich northern bypass because it came near his house.
He opened a friends care farm (for people with mental health issues and learning dis), gave a long speech about how vital the mental health services are, then went and voted against proposed improvements to mental health services in parliament the following week!
Nope, this isn't something noble about caring for the NHS, this is about reading the writing on the wall and wanting to keep his snout in the trough.

So it's ok for Ireland to want to send asylum seekers back to the UK but it's not ok for UK to send them back to France? Double standards?Same mentality as some of the people on here which is fk everyone else I just don't want them in my back yard.

I wonder if the UK can be considered a safe country, given that they will try and send them on to Rwanda?Same mentality as some of the people on here which is fk everyone else I just don't want them in my back yard.

Same. The bd is going for low hanging fruit
Give the bloke a break. He has to go for stuff low-hanging. He's only short. What we are seeing is electioneering. There's no plan to it all. If he sees something that might gain a few votes, he's for it. His plans were solely to attack the traffickers. They were the only target. Oh, look, they are running off to Ireland. That shows his plan is working.

It’s kind of ironic that the Irish Gov is trying to create a border on the island so they can deport people over it
Secondly how can an EU state return to people to the U.K. when the U.K. can’t return people to the EU
It strikes me more that the Irish comments are for internal consumption after yet more anti migrant riots this week and McEntee being under serious criticism at home
I think the U.K. stance is quite simple .. if we can send all the migrants from the EU back then we will take those from the U.K. back, but then send them onwards back to France

It’s not the same though. It’s kind of ironic that the Irish Gov is trying to create a border on the island so they can deport people over it

The migrants arriving in Ireland have arrived from a non-EU country (Northern Ireland)
Much the same as those arriving in Italy from Libya etc.
The EU are trying to shut down migration from non-EU countries, which includes us.
Does anyone else think the defection seems odd? Usually these are announced at a big press conference to get maximum impact but this news was very quietly released with no breaking news banner on the BBC. Even on here it is a side topic. You could easily miss it on both the Guardian and The Times websites.

Been in discussion for months and no doubt timed to get the Sunday news shows and papers in advance of local elections. nigelpugh7 said:
This Penny Mordaunt? Just another lying, self serving politician sadly. Stand up and fight... https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.dailymail.co.uk/n...
Deliberately provided a Mail link so I'm not accused of being a communist....
I'm just listening to Iain Dale on LBC and they're talking about the Poulter defection.
Interestingly he says he knows a lot of Labour politicians and privately a lot tell him that Mordaunt is the only name they "fear" when it comes to whether the Conservatives fortunes will change before an election.

Now that they want Sunak out she's an insightful military strategist
The opinions in the Mail change with the wind - anyone getting their views there want their heads testing.

The Mail wanted someone from the loon wing (Truss) in 2022, therefore Mordaunt exaggerated her Navy credentials and wasn't to be trusted.

Oh, 100% agree. I'd hoped my post worked on that level? An ability to practice hypocrisy without any self awareness is essential if you are playing King maker...Now that they want Sunak out she's an insightful military strategist

Sunak pleased that asylum seekers are potentially leaving the UK for elsewhere. What a disgusting excuse for a human being he is.
Why? They are here possibly illegally, having left other safe nations, our nation is no longer the best option in their opinion. So what as well as letting them enter we stop them leaving.Gassing Station | News, Politics & Economics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
