oh and just for the record, pinching a woman's ass was still a compliment thirty years ago
I don't want to get involved in the right and wrongs of the argument or whether or not it happened but I think the suggestion was slightly more than a pinch. As far as I know the insertion of a digit is now considered on the same level as (or even possibly to be) rape. Seti said:

As far as I know the insertion of a digit is now considered on the same level as (or even possibly to be) rape. About 6 years ago A mate of mines company was doing the civil engineering works at roundhay park and I was helping out while on a break from uni.
I was jackhammering out a some bollard anchors as the local pie-keys had stolen the top bits and weighed them in. Some strange looking old chap wonders up to the fence and asks "what you doing son..".. "digging a hole mate"...says I, "thanks for pointing out the bleeding obvious!!" he replied. Then I realised I was addressing the chap I wrote to age 10 asking to be superman...starstruck.
Anyway, I had a chat with him about what we were doing in his front garden (Roundhay Park) and generally had a moan about the fact some scumbags had nicked a load of bollards. He seemd alright to me, looked a bit odd. Didn't try to finger me or anything?

Jimmy Saville did more in his life than some detractors on here will ever do. I recall my first memory of him on Top of the Pops in 1964 - he has also been a semi-pro cycle racer, and professional wrestler.
His charity work is beyond question. Just 'cos he never acted or looked the norm didn't mean he wasn't a perfect human being. He was nearer to it than many!
A tireless champion of good deeds and needs.
In the 80s this fabulous Ginetta G12 was well-known with driver Richard Dodkins supporting the Stoke Mandeville Hospital Appeal Fund - it had Saville's famed signature on the rear (Saville's smiley - before emoticons had even been heard of - inside his 'J', and Saville's 'S' turned into a $ sign and an 'l' into a £ sign. He was absolutely genuine.
He was a bloody legend and the assholes on here deriding him on are beyond contempt. Have some respect!

Met him after another driver did his best to kill me and my family and I was for a few months in a wheelchair, I have no truck with those that repeat snide and nasty stuff about him, he was a great man, don't be tempted to be cynical for the sake of it, he did truly great things.
He told me once that he was so good on Jim'll Fix It because he didn't really like kids that much, but tried his best to! I liked him and admired his tenacity and generosity.
He gets 5 stars and 10/10 in this household.

Calm down! Are you related? If nothing else, it's easy to see how it could have played out.
I think a wider point is being missed here.Jimmy Saville was a very popular chap in his day, and has done more for charity than most of us could possibly think of achieving.
Yet we have a series of posts from, I would guess, a younger generation quoting unsubstantiated innuendo and chatter for the sake of it as if this were the lounge.
This is an RIP thread in NP&E.
ffs.

Ah, the usual dead celeb thread where one group fawns over someone because he/she was famous, and another group say actually he/she was a tt.
Yep. The difference being of course, the group doing the fawning actually knew the celeb, the group who didn't never spent a moment in the same room.I've enjoyed listening to the tributes by those who knew and worked with Saville from the early days. Apparently he raised some 40 million for charity in his time.
