What on earth do they think is going to happen?
It would be nice to think that the public would applaud this and require the Govt (who serve us) to leave this chap alone. Surely the intelligence services have nothing to hide so nothing to fear...............

Given that the whole spy thing is turning out to be more and more like a Bond film, what are the chances of this chap actually living more than a few months after setting up home in his destination country?
I guess there's safety in the media knowing who you are - now we know his name, the likelihood of him coming a cropper in a mysterious car crash/heart attack/gardening accident is probably pretty small

It's suddenly occurred to me what the real problem here is and for that matter WHY 1984 is such a credible book.

The problem is that I don't care who reads my emails or watches my facebook AND I SHOULD

The problem is my apathy!

Just like in the book, I suspect I along with everyone else on here and out in the world, just doesn't care...!

And don't say you do, if you've not written, protested or done anything more than post a few replies on a motoring forum.

As the book says:

"You are the dead"

"We are the dead"

yes

Good point. Although the apathy stems from helplessness - even if we did care, what can we do to change the situation? What significant change has a letter to an MP/newspaper, or a protest actually brought about in the last 10 or 20 years?

Aeroflot has select flights to and from Moscow that are indeed dry.

Whats the bet he's on a Russian transport plane flying to Equador via the Pacific route?

Surely the US would have forced that plane down over Florida if he had stayed on it?

Well that's what I learnt today!

Having a few drinks is about the only thing that makes being on a plane bearable

It's probably worthy of a separate thread, but I can't get my head around why the stuff in Boston wasn't prevented; especially considering the Russians actually told the US to keep an eye on them

Moscow denies any involvement in the case of fugitive ex-US intelligence officer Edward Snowden - says he has not entered Russian territory.

Intrigue, a good spy story.
