In his 1999 book, The Biggest Secret, David Icke claimed that Ted Heath raped and tortured youngsters - he also explicitly calls Greville Janner a paedophile and highlighted Dolphin Square as being the centre of many of these activities.
I genuinely believe that man is portrayed as a loony by the mainstream because much of what he says is true. It is how he first "raised his profile" (and in doing so ended his career). Unwelcome truths are punished far more harshly than lies.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-t-iRQOSeQ
It is amazing, isn't it, that senior MPs can admit the child abuse by their colleagues and yet nothing was done.

Unwelcome truths are punished far more harshly than lies.Nigel Seed QC (now Judge Seed QC) was the lead prosecutor at the 1992 trial of the brothel keeper who allegedly threatened to dob Heath in as a child molester. Seed reportedly says that he decided to drop the prosecution not because of those allegations but because he didn't have any witnesses to prove his case. He wanted to call three sex workers to give evidence, but one was off shagging a customer, one was in jail but refused to leave her cell, and the other one didn't turn up.

I think it is a disgrace that these matters mainly seem to "come to light" only upon the death of the scum in question.
A pity more aren't taken to task whilst alive so they truly feel the suffering they deserve.
JandJ, you are a lawyer, I think (although you haven't ever said in terms that you are). Don't the presumption of innocence and the need for serious allegations to be proven by serious evidence mean something to you? I have no idea if Heath was a criminal. I can't describe him as scum just now, as the evidence appears to me to be inconclusive.A pity more aren't taken to task whilst alive so they truly feel the suffering they deserve.
I am a lawyer, and think that supporting allegations by evidence, and not rushing to assume guilt, are very important things, but I do not think that because I am lawyer. Those things mattered to me before I was a lawyer, and are among the reasons why I became one*.
I reiterate that I don't know if Heath et al were guilty. If they were, they were/are scumbags. I don't know!
* OK, that, and the coke and (adult) hookers, natch.

Odd that the only one facing any kind of investigation (Janner) whilst alive is also a Labourite.A pity more aren't taken to task whilst alive so they truly feel the suffering they deserve.

Actually I was making a general reference to child abuse crimes - it seems of late all too many allegations are only coming to light only upon the death of the individual. I am not suggesting we simply jail people absent a trial.Given it appears that police and high ranking civil servants have historically also engaged in cover up activities this is a further significant concern of mine, because I believe in justice. And I believe that those who covered up should be prosecuted to dissuade others from following a similar path.
Perhaps in time an Inquiry will put in motion steps which will resolve this issue but I do not have much belief that this will happen. All too often "lessons will be learnt" but seemingly are not.

Is the Public Boarding School system a factor?
Perhaps being brought up in such an environment is not conducive to a "normal" upbringing and forming "normal" relationships in adult life. In Ireland we have had problems with Catholic priests - who were often men who were trained in a very similar secluded environment, i.e. the seminary system - often from a very young age (12 yeas old at one point).
Throughout my adult life I've heard jokes of "Hahaha! You got bummed in the shower/touched by prefects!"Perhaps being brought up in such an environment is not conducive to a "normal" upbringing and forming "normal" relationships in adult life. Haha, fine, very funny, no, I was never bummed or molested.
And the odd person asking in hushed, awed horror (but completely seriously), "Was there touching at your school? Were you touched?"
No. I never heard of anything like that happening quite seriously.
Since I was about 21 or 22 I try hard to keep away from it in conversation because it avoids these comments but also avoids stupid comments about rich parents and torturing animals.
But for the last few years I have wondered if there will be comments of "Hang on, you went through Sixth Form. Did you touch First and Second Formers?"
