Well, seen some of the videos now. 100s of "fighters" on the streets roaming terrorist attack style, picking off civilians, taking a few hostage. Executing people, women etc. Its about as bad as it could get.
Yup, they make the Russians invaders look positively civilised. There can be no justification for this barbarism.

Dunno about that....have you ever been oppressed?

I suspect for these Palestinians, they know they are going to die, but this is just a small victory for them in the grand scheme of things.

Trouble is, any criticism of Israel is seen as antisemitism.

They are a genocidal regime who would wipe any trace of Palestine off the face of the map if they could get away with.
All of Israel's neighbours also want to wipe Israel off the map, so 6 of one, half dozen of other.

Would that be Egypt (with whom it's got a peace treaty) Jordan, with (whom it's got a peace treaty) Saudi Arabia (who were looking to sign a peace treaty) or Lebanon/Syria whom israel have been bombing at will for the last 20 years?

Was more thinking Iran, Qatar, Saudi (I loathe them), Syria / Lebanon like you say.

Both sides have committed terrible acts so to call one genocidal and not the other is unfair imo.

This new conflict could blow up in proportion much greater than Ukraine, as not all of Ukraine's neighbours have designs on them.

If I had to pick a fight with any country in the world Israel would be close to the bottom of the list, it seems a very stupid thing to do.

They've put a statement out:

Slightly more muted than Qatar's ridiculous statement holding Israel solely responsible. rolleyes

Qatar has been pumping $$$$ millions into Gaza for years. Interesting initial statement from KSA - Iran of course has congratulated hamas, the organisation that has apparently kidnapped several Israelis, including an elderly woman, & has been perading them around Khan Unis. What a mess....

Just seen the footage of the women bare foot bleeding hands bound being stuffed into the back of a jeep by group of armed men an other crowding round to abuse her.

I am 100% sure Israel will have done bad things to Palestinians but that footage will go around the world and give Israel justification to do whatever it wants.

No matter where you sit on the side of the cause you surely have to see that footage is going to lead to 1000s of deaths.
If its the same one I've seen then there's a lot of blood from a place that may also indicate rape.

There's something oxymoronic about chanting god is great, whilst spitting at the naked and desecrated corpse of an executed female prisoner.

There's some guy shouting out something like that at Hyde Park Corner at the moment

Apparently, we all have to rush home and repent (if it was that terrible, surely I should repent immediately, at HPC. rather than leave it to later.....)

With all the Israeli intelligence it's astonishing that this has happened.

Netanyahu has been facing a lot of political trouble in the country and this attack has shifted focus towards a common enemy.

I don't see any peaceful solution here and Israel is not going to engage in diplomacy even if Biden shows up.

Have Russia had a persuasive hand in this, to try and take some US attention away from Ukraine and over to Israel?
I wouldn't put it past them to have used their presence in Syria to have stirred something up in conjunction with the Iranian's, maybe in the hope that, the US will be committed to divert ammo and kit to Israel instead of Ukraine, as well as forcing their energies to the ME not Ukraine.

Israel have definitely been caught with its pants around its ankles, which is quite a surprise, but they've been having a lot of internal political issues there of late, so again, ideal time for the opposition to strike.

Doesn't anyone in Palestine have a boat to fill up and sail off to a friendly country ?

Just caught up on this, feels like the whole planet is going to be embroiled in some kind of conflict.

Seems as fking stupid as my cretinous small dog annoying the two big dogs next door, which would if he got through would shred him, and looks like Hamas has got through the fence and now it going to get utterly fked by the big dogs.

This happens every now and then, is this markedly worse than the usual ?
This feels markedly worse than anything that's been seen since at least the 2nd intifada. It's not simply raining missiles down on towns, or a sporadic suicide bombing. It's an invasion, combined with the barbarism we expect of groups like this, like ISIS.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see just how much the Israelis have been holding back in previous years.
