Climate change - the POLITICAL debate. Vol 3
Discussion
Whilst we eagerly await for who will be Minister of Energy I'd like to hope my Local MP David Davies (the Welsh one) gets it.............

He knows his stuff and this a really good read from start to finish, a little taster............
"Indeed, I do agree. I am sorry that I was not a member of the famous five who voted against the Act in 2008, but I hope I will now do
something to put that right. I am pleased to see my hon. Friend Mr Tyrie here, because he helped to steer the opposition to the Act at the time.
I must confess that I was one of those who accepted the arguments that were made—I supported the Act when it was passed. Of course, part 1 clearly states that the Act is open to amendment if the science changes or if significant developments in science become clear. I contend that, given what we now know about climate science, we have a strong argument for reconsidering the Act with a view to either revoking it completely or drastically amending it."

Mr Andrew Tyrie is a finance chap but he'd also make a good DECC Sec. He was very active together with Lord Lawson in the background when the ridiculous CCA was on its way to infamy and I happen to know he provided helpful info to his fellow Tory MPs, but there's a lot of Tory stony ground for such seed to fall upon.http://www.theyworkforyou.com/whall/?id=2013-09-10...

I can't remember how I found this odd treatise, but it makes interesting reading; he doesn't seem to understand how economy of scale or learning rates work and his ideas about transport are eccentric to say the least, but I think he's dead right about nuclear power and the insanity of government picking a power source and subsidising it while forcing the premature scrapping of expensive capital assets rather than gradually taxing the power source you want rid of more and more and leaving the choice of alternatives to the market.

Peter Warm is an excellent name to have if you're in the business of flogging insulation. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-307...

It looks like we need to prepare for winter power cuts and other short- to mid-term consequences. Timing is as unpredictable as weather (and the climate).
