Balanced?! It's softy liberals like this that let off retarded yoof like this so they can go about their odius activities unchecked. Do Gooder: "But this would never have escalated into a criminal investigation and arrest if Tom Daley had simply decided to turn the other cheek." Yes, it's all Tom's fault.

Do you imagine that this statement paints you in a better light than the idiot on Twitter?
You gonna report him to the Police Rohrl?
Well he's made an explicit threat to the guy in question...

In answer Marf, no I'm not of course because as I've said many times now I don't think people ought to be arrested for being a dick on the internet. I didn't support the arrest of Liam Stacey or Paul Chambers either. I think the police should ignore this stuff altogether and concentrate on arresting people who have committed real burglaries and real assaults.

The irony is painfull.

The way to stop this ^^ type of behaviour is to prevent internet anonymity - it wouldn't be that hard to do, there is no need to be anonymous.

I think it's a dangerous precedent to simply absolve all online communication of legal oversight.

It's more public and repeatable therefore there should be some responsibilities to go along with the right to access the net.

Frankly if people are stupid enough to publish stuff like this and the law cracks down on them, so be it.

No! I don't have a facebook thingy. I find it a bit creepy you'd take the time to attempt to stalk me though, creepy and a bit exciting.

How long do you think it takes to put someones name in Facebook? The results are returned in order of locality so being in the NW there weren't a lot to choose from. Still, how do we know it's not you? We only have your word you don't use FB! Why is it creepy? Nothing to hide, nothing to fear, that's the mantra isn't it?

Uh oh...

Please if you're going to stalk me put the effort in, don't start following some poor lad from Eccles, he's got his own problems if he comes from Eccles...

I have nothing to hide. My old and smelly undies are in the second drawer down. (Don't let the wife catch you though, she'll mash you up man.)

Exactly right - it sounds like being taken in and given a talking to by the police will do this lad some good to be honest.

Please can we stop all this stupid stalking nonsense. It's spoiling a good thread.

Thanks.

What's the point you're making? You think anonymity is a good thing on the internet?
We're only jesting on here but the world's full of lunatics so why would you want to give them the ability to track you down? I'm pretty sure I recall stories of a PH'er from these very forums tracking down another member and harassing them. I forget who it was (RAFDug?) now but it's happened before.

no, they're on a training course about world of warcraft. there has been an alarming rise in players of that game calling each other nasty names.
