i'm suprised there aren;t legions of PH/UKIP 'escort vehicles' ready to assure thatthe ballot boxes aren;t swapped en route from the polling stations to the counting centres

oh yea I forget pH doesn't do that sort of thing becasue they are all too busy having sex with supermodels and doing massive drugs ...

You can't go wrong with a pencil - ask a Cosmonaut it a test pilot.
Except they went to pens/wax for fear of the dust pencils created getting in electronics and air circulation systems... But that's semantics :P

Pencils are fine, they wont change votes, if they wanted to fix it they would just add the votes they don't want to the spoiled pile.
On that last note, does anyone know if it is possible to find out if your ballot paper was deemed to be spoilt? (Blue Pen...)

Right conspiracy maths:

There are roughly 47,000,000 registered voters for this I believe.

Shall we say a ballsy 80% turnout - it's been so widely talked about, it’ll be high.

47,000,000 x 0.8 = 37,600,000 individual votes.

You’re fixing a vote here, you need it to look comfortable, but only just comfortable enough.

Say 55-45. You need it to be plausible.

So, you only need to fix it if leave wins. Shall we give the conspiracy the benefit of the doubt and say it's marginal 52-48 so you need a swing of 7% of the total vote.

So 37,600,000 *0.07 = 2,632,000. Let's call it 2,600,000 for simplicity.

Shall we say to rub a vote out properly and put a new X in a box – maybe 10 seconds?

So 2,600,000/6 = 433,333 minutes or 7,222 man hours.

That is all after you have made the call about just how many votes you need to doctor – how many you need to do in each constituency to keep the numbers sensible.

Then you need to hide all this work at the counting stations – you’ll need a team at each one, some of whom will do nothing, some of whom will work their fingers to the bone to make it work right.

That's a lot of people to hush up/pay off. And to hide from various inspectors etc. Seems awful risky and labour intensive.

Please feel free to pick away at the assumptions and the maths by the way, it's just a bit of fun.

Someone on my FB mentioned that it must be rigged as they are only allowing you to use pencils. When I stated that it's not true, and that you can use a pen, she responded that how did I know it wasn't rigged...???

I give up.

It's exactly the same as what we saw in Scotland in the 2014 referendum - some people are just sore losers and are getting in their excuses early.

Takes a lot less that 10 seconds to 'draw a fish'/ make another mark on the ballot paper. Just sayin'. Very much doubt it would happen, and if it did we're fked anyway so...

Trial run at home - I will modify that to 8 seconds

But that's at a probably unsustainable pace

The pencils are quite waxy to avoid smudges.... You've got to rub the X out without a trace and clean the card up....id say ten seconds is fair
If that was a response to me, you have entirely missed my point. Plus at my polling station it was a fairly mundane HB, hardly "waxy".

Point is that to "remove" a vote you don't have to rub anything out; adding something is much, much quicker.
