Careful.

There's someone in here who thinks that using s.35 was a travesty of democracy, as opposed to a legitimate use of legislation that existed since the inception of Scottish devolution (away back when the SNP were a minority party that openly campaigned against EU membership etc.), done in order to kill an attempt to introduce laws in Scotland that interfered and affected laws in the UK - something that is expressly against both the spirit and the letter of the devolution settlement that all Scottish Governments agree to operate under.

There's a lot wrong with the devolution settlement (and the SNP go out of their way to exploit every failing), but this was bang on.

ETA. The lack of separation of legislature and judiciary (a fundamental rule of all nations that call themselves democratic) that exists in Scotland by having the most senior judge being able to sit in the government's cabinet was something that Alex Salmond personally addressed by not appointing the Lord Advocate as chief advisor to the Scottish Government and not giving them a cabinet position (respect to him for doing that). Sturgeon reversed that decision as one of her first actions as FM.

Because she realised she needed all the help she could get as her own legal talents were deficient?

True. After all being unable to fill out a simple application for legal aid is a pretty low bar to stumble on.

"The client wrote to the Law Society in November 1997, saying: “I sincerely hope that you look into this case as I certainly would not wish Ms Sturgeon to ill advise further matrimonial cases which she is clearly not capable of dealing with"

More likely it was just one of the many representations of how she was an unprincipled hypocrite.

Salmond knew it was a bad look (and one of the overt symbols of a dictatorship) and despite having the legal power to break the independence of the judiciary (because of the inadequacies of the Scotland Act) actively chose not to.

When ignorant people defend the SNP and try to portray 'The Tories' as the problem, and dismiss claims of dictatorial regime in Scotland as hyperbole, they should be reminded at every turn that it is not 'Tory UK' that lacks accountability for individuals.

Boris was removed from office for being a liar. Matheson gets a pat on the back and constant re-affirmation that he is "a man of integrity".

This line sums up the SNP perfectly...hypocrites of the highest order.

It was poor manners posting about Kate's cancer before it was officially released. Personally I think spitting in someone's face is more vile though. As classy as her sister. Just less able to damage the entire country.

Yet there are still legions who think these people and their cohorts are wonderful. They have to be smoking mind altering toxins surely?

They have been brain washed to hate, especially the English and Toaries like they are some sort of plague (note never called Conservatives) and ever since the scumbag lunatic Greens have taken hold the SNP basically just hate everything and everyone...especially Westminster.

The blame for all this is the bigoted people of Scotland who continue vote for them and it would take a miracle to change thier minds.

But seeing how two football teams act towards one another maybe its not surprising that this inbred hatred in Scotland lends itself perfectly to the politics of the SNP.

From The Telegraph -

Glasgow Greens bid to ditch Union flag in favour of Palestinian and transgender ones. Glasgow is to consider axing the Union flag for Royal events and instead flying transgender, Palestinian and Cuban flags in an attempt to “reflect the city's progressive values”.

That's football in the same way that what's happening in Ukraine is diplomacy.

Glasgow Greens wield exactly no power other than what they can garner by trolling right wing berks and dying newspapers like the Telegraph; maybe don't do their job for them with the same enthusiasm as the fkwitted tories quoted in the article?

I could have chosen any number of media, it's been widely reported.

As for my enthusiasm, where? I said - (sigh) - that's it.

Thanks for the condescension though, always appreciated.

Edit: and I don't even necessarily disagree with your overarching point.

Kate started her campaign in the papers to oust useless, most uncomplimentary about his history in office.

Not before time, can’t see het turning round the SNP’s fortunes in two years though, at least she would sack Harvie’s nutters

At least we should welcome their candour. Police Scotland anticipate working class white males being the subject of hate complaints. Sounds like a repeat of the offensive behaviour at football law..

"We know that young men aged 18-30 are most likely to commit hate crime, particularly those from socially excluded communities who are heavily influenced by their peers.

They may have deep-rooted feelings of being socially and economically disadvantaged, combined with ideas about white-male entitlement."

https://www.scotland.police.uk/what-s-happening/ca...

At least you won't need to bother finding a cop to report it. Numerous third parties will take a report and pass it on. Police going to be swamped?

https://www.scotland.police.uk/contact-us/reportin...

What is so special with hate crime that any unqualified person can take reports but any other crime requires (shock horror) speaking to a cop or police civilian employee so there is some assessment of whether what is being reported is a crime?

I do note that often The Express and Daily Mail are often quoted but they are not exactly bastions of truth and accuracy either are they.

That said, hope the report is correct but would rather see SNP go bankrupt first then watch Dumza go flying out on his sorry, useless, lying, incompetent arse.
