It'd practically guarantee Yes as the outcome. A lot of people I've talked to now have a view along the lines of "If they [Scots] hate us [English] so much they can fk off". Sadly the vicious and vociferous Yes campaign has massively damaged the relationship.

I know it's a nasty minority who are using this as an anti-English platform but I'm now at the point I'd rather see Scotland floated off somewhere. There's no way I want to see any further favours in Scotland's direction in the event of No and I want my politicians to bargain extremely hard in the event of Yes.
Bloody hell.

It's the eve of the referendum and people on here STILL think it's all about hatred of the English.

Read my words - for the overwhelming majority in Scotland thus is NOT about hating the English.

Words fail me.
I disagree. For a very vocal proportion of the population, it is ALL about hating the English and looking to "stick one" to the English.

.
What proportion and what do you base that on? It is not my experience at all - from speaking to Scottish people who are leaning towards the Yes camp, none of them base their views on hatred of English people.
Just some press excerpts...

One could go on and on. I'm sure it's not the case for a large proportion of Scotland, but I have personal experience of bigotry, bordering upon outright hatred from when I lived in the Highlands during the late '70's simply because we were English and my Father didn't work for "the Forestry".
Fair enough - those articles look quite depressing. I think it is a minority thankfully. I also think most of the vitriol is now reserved for the No campaigners!

Had the day off today and I've had BBC news 24 on in the background. There seems to be an awful lot of coverage of the Yes campaign, with little from the other side. Are they running scared of the accusations about Nick Robinson.
Probably more about giving them some rope with which to hang themselves.

I just had this note from my father who still lives up there:

I fear Scotland will awake on Friday morning with the same sense of WTF have we done that I felt the day after I “won” the Turbo R. I’ve already voted Yes anyway, so too late for me to back down.
Worth bearing in mind the ebay bought Bentley got sent to the breakers just 2 weeks after he got hold of it. laugh

Shame that those that voted a week ago don't have the option to reconsider based on this weeks shenanigans. I never have agreed with postal votes being so widely available.

David Dimbleby seemed a bit soft on Salmond last night - odd, especially since he gave Brown such a hard time...

I've just seen an interview with Redwood on Sky News. It would appear he is a firm supporter of separatism.
He seems to be the one who wants to carry the torch forward, after the No, for addressing the west lothian question and updating the Barnett formula.

First time I've heard the bloke speak any sense. Bring it on.

I don't think these nut job nationalists realise just how many 'bd English' have Scottish ancestry and visa versa. After over 300 years of union and even before, there's been a lot of mixing.

Using my own family as an example: My great grandmother was Scottish. She married an Englishman in 1900, who was a sergeant in a Scottish regiment (Gordon Highlanders) when he was based at Edinburgh castle.

But then the nationalists have shown time & time again that they aren't really interested in details.

They're even going after the Scottish 1990 Grand Slam winning captain David Sole, because he's publicly backing the 'No' campaign.

Apparently you can cancel (not change) a postal vote as long as it hasn't been counted.

This may or not be pish, but worth checking if he wants to cancel a Yes. Every little helps.

They have had people from both sides on Radio 2 most of the afternoon with fairly equal airplay to both sets of opinions - but the Yessers always seemed to be given the final word.

Hopefully not the wall as that'll give them Northumberland which is well worth holding onto! However Salmond's statements about there being no border controls is laughable, borders have two sides, maybe there won't be controls on one side but don't speak for the other-side. Either way sensible freethinkers are always welcome smile

Incidentally are there any yes voters feeling their side is being let down? I imagine there are some sensible rational people voting yes for very well thought reasons who are embarrassed by the lack of answers being given by the yes campaign? Be curious to here if there are any?

Therein lies your problem Burg. The noise made by those elements of the independence movement who are rabidly anti English, have drowned out the rest. Many English people are seeing a side of the Scots they haven't seen before. So despite your protestations, it's playing down here as overtly racist and it is orchestrated from the very top of the "Scots" Government.

I expect property prices just south of the border to go up in the event of a yes vote
How do you search for properties with land on right move etc?

I want to find another place like our current one with 2 acres and no close neighbours

as you can't get 40 chickens into the back garden of a 2 bed semi

Rebuilding Hadrian's wall is no good. For those that don't realise, almost all of Northumberland lies north of the wall, as well as some of Cumbria.

Unless der Reichsfuhrer Salmond is planning a land grab too? scratchchin

There should be plenty to choose from around North Northumberland, West Durham and North Cumbria.

How about 4.5 acres. And believe me, Allendale is in the middle of nowhere!

Quite a lot of the actual border lies along watercourses, so I'd suggest...
