Nicky Morgan:

"There's not a sausage being offered, that's not why I'm doing it," she says.

Moving on.....

May's odds cut to 100/1.

Anna Soubry has just announced she's backing her.

I think that Teresa May would be someone who could listen and act soundly to advice, rather than feeling compelled to offer it to anyone who will listen.

In these uncertain times, that could be an essential quality.

I left the Conservative party after May's "Nasty Party" speech. Now she's going to be leader and PM. And she's a remainer. All very odd.

Diane Abbott at Corbyns pad:

....is said to be "blocking the door"

She good at listening. She's been reading our emails and listening to our phone calls for the past few years.

Looks like we will have our second female PM. Will she invoke memories of the first?

With any luck. It's what's needed now as a weak PM will get into all sorts of problems there's going to be months of anarchy otherwise.

It'd be a blooming odd moment if nobody even mentioned the previous one.

(Are we treating the first one like That Shakespeare play and not saying the name or something?)

No mention of Ruth Davidson?
She's a hardline Remainer - zero chance.

Obama will be free in the not too distant future.

I wonder if he fancies being PM?
He's already down for the Labour job.

Back on page 5, 30 mins before his announcement I said Boris would stand down. Gove was divisive at education but he got things done in a post where traditionally a minister spends 5 years and changes the square root of f**k all.
Once Gove threw his hat in the ring, Boris had his get out. He could say he was making way for decisiveness and a unifying force at a time when the country was in need.

Then off he goes to the backbenches for the next few years, waiting to return when the heat dies down.

I'd rather Gove then May, he decides what he thinks needs to be done and goes for it. May's spent her life being OK but not much else.

Good bio on Gove here: http://www.newstatesman.com/politics/education/201...
Put him in charge of both parties then. smile

My money is on Gove.

I'm not a Conservative but he appears to be a capable man.

I thought my hot tub post was pretty sexist but that's top work there skirk.

I'd sooner May, Clinton and Merkel all in power at the same moment. Over Corbyn, Trump and Putin.

Theresa May had been just about the most vindictive, incompetent Home Secretary in living memory. One thing she is good at, is blaming everyone else for her failures. I was hoping I would be able to return to voting Tory, no chance if she's in charge. Looks like I'll be doing the 'none of the above' thing again

And not an MP. So quite tricky.

Although she has been so close to the throne, she would not have made it if CMD and GO had not thrown themselves under the bus. A default candidate.
