I watched the Hard talk interview. Useless is the definition of narcissist, he had an air of trumpism about him throughout. I now expect to be reported for this comment by the same person that trawled through every single SNP related post on here a few years ago and had several removed including some of mine. Can't wait to see this shower ousted and a decent campaign for the abolition of the devolved administrations ramped up. Only trouble is i am old enough to remember what happens when Labour have power for too long at a local and national level up here and that wasn't pretty at the end either.
Excacty, Labour and SNP became way too comfortable with the Scottish vote only Labour didn't have the perverted Greens hanging on them like some parasite that ends up controlling the host body.

Things might have been a wee bit different had Thatcher not nailed the Conservative vote coffin shut with the council tax, too many people will never forgive that, the SNP play on that very hatred today.

Its very telling that a bunch of female shipyard workers did the naming and launch ceremony. They could convince any vaugley famous name to stand in front of it for a picture opourtunity.
McAllan apparently did make a speech before it got launched.
But didnt do the launch.
Doesnt want her face associated with it.
The picture will be the apprentice throwing the bottle of whisky at the ship.
I think if I was one of the male apprentices I’d be a bit annoyed that they chose only female ones to be on display ….
By the look of the pics the males got launched into the sea.
Quite a good metaphor for the SNPs policies. hehe

The public travelled to watch the launch from as far afield as Inverkip, a whole 8 miles away. Haud me back. rofl
Allegedly, the islanders wanted to attend the launch but couldn't get a ferry.

That’s a remarkably positive article on the beeb. One mention of delays and increased costs, no mention of the insane scale of the costs and the delays.

Still - female apprentices, shipbuilding on the Clyde, green sounding fuel source - tick, tick, tick.

I also saw something suggesting that it’s got reconditioned prop shafts originally fitted to stbox, presumably other components as well. Wonder if they’ll be able to get it to start and move before the end of the year.
Sannox received Rosa's shafts as hers had sat in the water for so long with no corrosion protection, or oil in her shaft seals. Other equipment that has been damaged/failed has been 'borrowed' from the Rosa as well - standard with smaller things in the industry, but the failure to properly look after big things like the shaftline of a ship is just amateur hour. Another extremely costly mistake, though not exactly time critical......

Reporting Scotland had a full timeline on the 6.30pm news. Pointing out it was years late and still 18months away from service. It wasnt complimentsry really.

Haha, that's a ridiculous article given the reality of the situation - almost reads like an SNP/Calmac press release!

Tractor production is up, comrades!

typical BBC - even the headline to click on the website says nothing - if it had been TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORY it would have been had "late" "costly" "overbudget" weaved into almost every sentence.

Nah. You fire harpoons at white whales not from them.

In comparison to Sannox that ship is almost finished. It even has real windows.

Is it just me? I was under the impression that the naming of a ship was an honour. A tradition that goes back thousands of years. Given to queens or heads of state for major ships. Or maybe the wife of a shipping company for smaller vessels. No harm to the apprentice that smashed the bottle of whisky but could they really not find any female politician who would take the job on?

For example the tiny 21M MV Helen Rice was launched at Ferguson Marine and was named by the wife of the managing director of the company that ordered it.

Are the SNP are so ashamed of the whole fiasco that none of them would take the job on?

How the ship 'looks' on launch is absolutely no indication of how complete it is internally - the Loch Seaforth (last big Calmac ship) was launched as a hull without any superstructure, as this was craned on separately. The hull block sections had all been joined together in build with most pipework/equipment installed.

Fergusons have shot themselves in the foot twice with both launches - for the Sannox the added on fake funnels, painted on windows, etc. were a time wasting exercise - the hull was launched without a final design or approval in how to progress from there. The Rosa has gone over the top - they have gone to lengths to make the exterior look as finished as possible, yet are still giving themselves 18 months to complete outfitting, which indicates the interior fit out has a long way to go yet. All they've given themselves is more paintwork/metalwork to get dented/damaged while equipment will be getting lifted on over the next year.

Bullst baffles brains though - they had two men with tubs of white paint and domestic rollers repainting the whole of one side of the Sannox for 4 days before her sea trials, just so the camera-facing side looked better. As soon as she turned, the dirt/rust-streaked river side came into view.....biggrin

This is the same attitude that led to the grooming gang atrocities...

By all means destroy the suggestion during reasoned debate, but shutting down the debate before it can happen, then shooting the messenger, is the stuff of third world dictatorships, not mature first world democracies.

Glen Sannox was launched 7 years ago and still not delivered. It was clearly a painted tub with virtually nothing inside.
At least Rosa is only 18 months from completion.

The crowing and back patting on social media from the nats has been hilarious. Full cognitive dissonance in action. Apparently the Glen Rusty is a massive victory for Scottish shipbuilding, something to be proud of, a great achievement for Fergusons, thank goodness for the glorious SNP who commissioned these proud vessels, Tooooaaaareees have nae right to criticise, deflect, spin, bluster. It's been like a thought experiment of Stockholm Syndrome.

So what do we think. Will the nanny state win? A survey of Scotrail passengers show most support lifting the booze ban.

https://www.heraldscotland.com/news/24242370.major...

Personally I want it lifted. Why should I not be able to, for example, get on a train somewhere in the highlands after a day of walking and have a beer?

We have a bit of if it moves ban it culture.
