I think if I was one of the male apprentices I’d be a bit annoyed that they chose only female ones to be on display ….
I hope you haven’t assumed their genders.sherman said:
Interesting how that chart shows peak SNP support at peak pandemic, which matches my observation at the time. Scottish exceptionalism was (what felt like to me) at an all-time high.Edited by TheJimi on Wednesday 10th April 11:57

The Labour bit is the only really relevant part for the GE.Can but hope the Reform vote is still in that state come the next Scottish elections and hopefully we can see the SNP and Greens comprehensively ousted.

Surely Reform are most likely to be eating into the Tory vote, which could mean that the seats they currently hold end up going to the SNP?Can but hope the Reform vote is still in that state come the next Scottish elections and hopefully we can see the SNP and Greens comprehensively ousted.

Forgive me, no really, I’m London based and my political optics are rather Westminster-centric ordinarily (although I’ve found myself drawn to this thread daily and more than any other over the last couple of years so keep up the good work). As such many of the nuances of Scottish politics are beyond me.
Wtf were Labour doing polling at circa 15% in 2020?! Barely more than half the Conservative vote and not much above “Other”. I can understand there’s only so much left of centre support to go around and the SNP have been partying hard these last few years so will have been hoovering up much of their losses but that (low) number is still a surprise. Am I becoming forgetful in my advanced years. I don’t recall it being so bad. Back in the olden days when I was supposed to know about these things Scotland was a shoe-in for dozens of Labour (Westminster) seats.

Probably a lot to do with Jeremy Corbyn and (his "appointee" as Scottish Labour Leader at the time) Richard Leonard.Labour's vote share should have started recovering gradually post 2016 but their unelectability in the rUK applied equally in Scotland at the time.

Short version -Too much infighting and not saying no to Brexit when the Scottish voters said No. Wtf were Labour doing polling at circa 15% in 2020?! The great coup Alex Salmnd did was to turn Scotland from a country that voted mostly on the usual left/right economic issues to a country that voted on independence/unionist lines. So the 45% who lost the indyref all voted SNP which under fptp gave them most of the Westmister seats despite less than half the vote. the 45% was also enough along with gaming the voting system to get the SNP and the Scottish Greens most of the Holyrood seats.Wtf were Labour doing polling at circa 15% in 2020?! Labour had a series of poor leaders while the Tories had in Ruth Davidson an effective one. So the Tories got much of the unionist vote. Labour lost votes to the SNP and did not pick up unionist votes to replace them.
After 10 years of failure under Sturgeon the SNP are no closer to independence now than Alex Salmond got despite an unpopular Brexit and the Boris Johnston hated Tories.
Despite having approx £2500 a head more to spend on devolved govt than the English average the services like health, education, police, local govt are worse now than 10 years ago.
Despite all this for 10 years Sturgeon got an easy ride from the UK and Scottish media who seemed to think she was a great leader. Other than being good at controlling her party and verbally abusing anyone who questioned her she presided over a series of failures.
She seemed to believe that govt consisted of passing laws whereas in fact any policy only works if the details are planned and there is a plan for effective delivery.
So now after Sturgeon's chickens came home to roost (inventing a 3rd sex of "rapist" for example) some though not all of the SNP voters have realised they have been conned and are going back to Labour.
Due to the FTTP system which helped the SNP they are likely to suffer a bloodbath if they fall another few percent behind. Down to single figure seats is not beyond the realms of possibility.
Electoral calculus has a tool where you enter what percent vote each party gets. I plugged in Labour 39, SNP 29, It gave the SNP 8 seats.A loss of 40.
Have a play.

Holy moley. If the SNP scumbags fall to single figures of MPs in the upcoming General Election, I shall be calling upon the services of a severely depleted Scottish NHS to have my stomach pumped, such will be the celebratory intake of alcoholic beverages. I cannot wait to see the complete annihilation of these duplicitous parasites from our bodypolitik. Electoral calculus has a tool where you enter what percent vote each party gets.
