I saw a programme where a lottery couple explained why they went for the publicity option.

They said that their family and neighbours knew they had no relation it could have come from, and that they didn't want to lie to their family and friends about their new wealth. Seems fair enough to me- though I'm a miserable bugger so I'd give secrecy a try!

If I won, I'd keep quiet, people would just assume I'd had a good quarter at work.

There's a theory that NOT telling just prolongs the agony until someone cottons on and tells the press and THEN you get all this hassle anyway...

He's already getting tired of beating back slutty gold diggers and they've started arguing about who actually bought the ticket. Their email account has 500 emails and their Facebook wall has broken down with old friends getting in touch.

I give them six months. hehe
They said on the news that they had friends struggling to get on the property ladder and they would buy them houses. I can't possibly see how that would go horribly wrong.

I was about to post the same. Plenty of people have that kind of money and manage to live their entire lives without coming close to being kidnapped or for that matter having their pets slaughtered.

Best of luck to both of them. Couldnt have happen to a nicer couple with the world at their feet.

Indeed, but it certainly could have happened to a more attractive couple.

But rich. There will be plenty of "barbie doll" ladies after him now.. And I am sure there will be a few blokes looking to take her away from him too....

My cousin saw them walking through the high street where they live last week. They will certainly struggle with this, but if you play then you have to deal with the consequences of a win, no matter how small the odds.

I think they bear more than a passing resemblance to Paul Dano and Rachel Weisz personally.

Just not quite as camera friendly, but they're hardly a frugly couple, are they?
