The police visiting a victims house, while their car was being ragged about by a bunch of scumbags (or possibly being torched), over some comments she made on Facebook, rather than doing anything about hunting down the (well known) scum?

Ok.

Would a Tracker have helped here? Real time tracing and all that jazz...

I am guessing they were at her house in relatio nto the crime and mentioned they were aware of ehr FB page - because the girl implies that lots of people may have been calling the Police to report sightings - so clearly the Police would have been looking at the age anyway to see what was going on.

So they could track her if she went near a computer!
Good idea! biggrin

It sounds like she may have shown the police her Facebook comments whilst they were visiting her (after all, her friends had seen the car so might have given them some leads) and they obviously thought her comments were a bit inflammatory (forgive the pun) so asked her to calm it down a tad.

Whilst the comments made by the police weren't sensitive, they were sensible - the last thing they'd want is the public involved in a car chase with the public, which may have happened if her friends had seen the car.

I wonder if they ever considered questioning her and her husband as suspects? An expensive car gets stolen with the keys, the owner speculates about it being destroyed in a fire and it ends up being torched - they've got to consider the slightest chance of insurance fraud.

I'm actually surprised I haven't had a visit from Plod. I'm a friend of Lesley and all she was saying was that they were a bunch of wee s (she has a way with words!). Some of her friends were saying that they hoped she got the car back in one piece and I pointed out that it might be better if they killed themselves by wrapping it round a tree.

The police visited her at 10:30pm specifically about her FB comments.

So they really did visit 'specifically' about her FB comments, are you certain?

I have asked and will update when I hear back but my understanding is as I described i.e. specifically about FB.

It seems like the public were doing a better job than the police.

On the TV cop programmes how many times do the public stand around watching whilst the police need help.

Lesley's Mum, did the police visit Lesley specifically about the FB comments or were they there anyway?
Lesley's Mum said:
Specifically for that. The car was still on the run.

That is unforgivable.

The car still being abused and they worry about a bit of vented anger.

Not on and a bad show.

The other thread said that the area is suffering from repeated thefts accompanied with bragging on FB, have these people been targetted for a visit too?

They took her Range Rover spare key and were offering it up to any other scrotes that wanted it on their FB page apparently. She's had new keys coded now though, but that won't stop them coming back for a go. I can see this turning nasty as people just don't see the police doing enough.

The Plod basically know who these little fkers are but it would seem they are powerless to do anything. Quite why, I have no idea.

I would love to know the exact wording the police used, I don't see anything wrong than "we've seen your comments on Facebook and just want to advise you to calm it down a little", don't see a problem but the article does suggest it was a lot more than that which is horrendous.
Teh fact that the tabloid doesn't specify the wording leads me to conclude that they probably said exactly what you suggested. If it was anything more than that they would have included the wording. Another non-story in reality I bet.
Perhaps but why bother when her £25k car has been stolen and is being ragged around the town or city? Beggars belief as usual ...

Then they can't know for certain, this appears simple enough, they steal a car, they rag it about and set fire to it and then 'someone' brags about it on FB, they knew your friend on FB and visited them, they would, if they knew who stole it, have them in custody.

They have lots of powers, some of which have been exceeded here, but we have given them comprehensive powers to get the perpetrators and have them prosecuted.

BTW, surely the sites on FB should have been investigated by now, they are a flagrant thumbing of the nose to the police.

Lesley just told me that they came to advise her on how to act. They were concerned she was thinking of taking matters into her own hands and her comments could be seen to be offensive!

she best be careful - the gang might turn up tonight to shut her up! especially with all this media publicity - think of all the hits they would get if they could get her RR.

Shocking behaviour from the police, what an utter waste of time. If they weren't surfing Facebook they might have caught the crims.

And they wonder why Joe Public despairs at their ineptitude rolleyes

Disgusting state of affairs. One would have hope that given the fact nothing she had posted was remotely illegal, the police would have been more exercised with catching the scrotes responsible.

The other sad fact (from this ane experiences of friends with them) is how TWOCable RS Audis are - the contemporary equivalent of a Sierra Coswirth in the late 80's/early 90's. Having one on the driveway is almost an invitation for a break in.

No way. Offensive to whom?

Surely her actions on FB are the very best form of vigilant behaviour and quite possibly, actually definitely, the only good use of the damned thing I've ever heard of.

It is not offensive to any sane person to condemn the actions of the anti-social, it is how we formed a 'society' for crying out loud.
