If John Lennon and George Harrison were brought back and the UK entered a re-formed Beatles we still wouldn’t win, so I don’t see the problem with Bonnie Tyler. And even if she finishes last we still get to be in the competition next year.
As a slight aside, I note the Tony Lommi from Black Sabbath wrote this year’s entry for Armenia

the reason we never win is because the songs we put in there are genuinely terrible. Sure, there's the usual territorial voting, but broadly we don't take it seriously.
The songs don't matter at all - we haven't any friends in Europe except Norway. With not joining the euro, going ape in Iraq, haggling over the cost of the EU, and behaving abysmally on their beaches all summer, simply nobody likes us.Go Bonnie!

Given the state of the countries finances, and that the winner has to host the following year; I believe the selectors have been watching Father Ted...

Maybe the Irish should use this song about a horse(NSFW!!!)(My little.....horse...)
