They're only letting us use pencils to vote!!
Discussion
It's worse than just pencils so that they can rub out leave votes, when I went to vote their was a stealth chopper hovering just above the polling station, you couldn't see it, buy the downdraft from the blades was making the tops of some nearby trees move. They're using special cameras to film people as they vote in the booth, and noting down people who vote leave for 'later'. All paid for with OUR taxes.

Except they went to pens/wax for fear of the dust pencils created getting in electronics and air circulation systems... But that's semantics :P
Pencils are fine, they wont change votes, if they wanted to fix it they would just add the votes they don't want to the spoiled pile.
The favourite writing tool of the test pilot or astronaut was the chinagraph or wax pencil - which has a sticky texture and can write no matter what the G conditions are. It can also write on shiny surfaces - such as a plastic sheet or knee pad.Pencils are fine, they wont change votes, if they wanted to fix it they would just add the votes they don't want to the spoiled pile.

Good God the "ooh put your tin foil hat on missus" crowd really pisses me off. How naive do you have to be to imagine anyone in government isn't capable and willing to do anything underhand as a means to an end.
Encouraging the use of pencils because pen ink might fade? Are they going to count the papers this century? You have to be fking kidding me!
Conversely, how paranoid do you have to be to assume that after many decades of elections in this country which have generally been considered amongst the most honest in the World (notwithstanding questions specifically over postal votes), "they" are suddenly going to start scamming the electorate today?Encouraging the use of pencils because pen ink might fade? As I understand it, we use pencils simply because they're predictable. They don't smudge, they don't leak through the paper, and they're a consistent colour.

The voting isn't run by the government. If it were run by the government don't you think they would do a better job of staying in power for longer than 10 year stretches?

I believe that's always the case - there was a link to some chap talking about electronic voting on youtube where I think he goes over why...
Here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3_0x6oaDmI
(I haven't watched it again as my overriding desire when I watched it the first time was to push the fella in the Thames...but he makes some interesting points).
As sad as it is, I actually enjoyed watching that, I hadn't thought about it before, but it makes a lot of sense! Here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3_0x6oaDmI

I just went in and voted, which is all anyone can do. If the government did want to rig the vote, they could do, and no one would be the wiser. How can any ordinary punter find out which way their specific vote was registered?
Regardless of which side wins or loses, Us ordinary punters will just have to get on, and live with the result, and try to make the best of it.

This sir, is an outstanding post. DanL said:
Does anyone seriously believe people will be diligently erasing pencil marks to change votes?
If you're going to rig an election, there are two easy ways to do it:
1. Just change the counts you report - why waste time changing the voting papers?
2. If you must change a paper, spoil the votes you don't like - easily done, and faster than changing the way someone voted.
Shouldn't this conspiracy stuff be saved until after the vote?

Yes, people do seriously believe that.
As I'm mischievous, I replied that they could indeed spoil your ballot paper even if you used a pen.

But you've always been allowed to use a black pen
What's wrong with a white pen ? Why is it aaaalways a black pen? It's worse than the MOBO awards.S10GTA said:
You joke, but it actually happened in my local polling station this morning.
Perhaps this is just a manifestation of the distrust the Government have managed to invoke in the general population over this matter?S10 GTA this morning said:
Went and placed my vote this morning, and there was a guy there insisting he was to do it in pen. He was voting leave, he told everyone. Laughable.
Whichever way it is looked at, the government does not come out of it looking good.
