Was around Portobello Rd in early July and noted the prices of properties.

1 bed property - approx. 500 yds from NHG station, a shade just under £2M.

Taking this into account, perhaps more money than sense? hehe
But that's very much the exception.

You can find a perfectly acceptable one bed round there for only £1.5 million smilesmile

I'm going for the my firt time on Monday, how can you tell they're scumbags?
show who's best.
Dealers travel from the midlands to try their luck as well.

The most popular questions asked of police there are.
1 Is this it.
2 Where are the toilets.
3 How do i get away.

If you do go.
The 1st day is kids day,
some floats then dj's on lorries with junior gang members affiliated to the dj following.
Day 2 is the chance for bigger gangs from all over london to show who's boss.

Dont take any more money then you need dont wear jewelry or a watch, dont take a decent phone.
Any women with you should wear trousers and avoid wearing skirts or carrying hand bags.
Its shxt the people who live there spend a fortune boarding their houses up. Some have hoses trained on the front of their houses to deter people from using gardens/doorways as toilets.
And prepare to get caught up in this type of thing at some point in the day too:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJBiwGZFkms

I went for years and tried to stay around Sancho Panza / Good Times but it's inevitable they'll fill up to bursting so you'll end up floating around and wind up in the middle of Rampage or something similar. You'll also see all kinds of behaviour, personal low point was seeing a young girl obviously off her head being used by a group of men in a shop doorway with a crowd cheering on, so be ready for that too.

And also be ready for a long walk back to a point where you can get a tube when you've had enough too as they shut the stations throughout the day and it can be miles before you find one open.

I did wonder if that PH'er got his nickname from that - Poo at Paul's
I think you are confusing me with "Poo at Miles and Jemima's"

Yes it's great fun, until they notice you're not part of their clique and then hold onto your hat.

Literally if it's a New Era, BAPE or other ghetto fabulous design.

Edit - I'm not trying to put you off or to "hate on carnival", all I'm saying is be aware that while parts of it are like a big corporate event there's a lot of it which really isn't and you need to be aware of where you are and who's around you.

The last few years that I went I was seeing more and more people really not switched on to their surroundings and that was also where I saw the most incidents of people having phones / hats / jackets taken or being used as punchbags for no apparent reason.

Also, stay away from those people offering street food from an upturned shopping trolley or oil drum. That public stting and puking people talk about? It happens. A lot. I'm sure carnival chicken is to blame for most of it.

That retort has a whiff of reverse snobbery about it

music aside, it looks like fun to me.

they are simply trying to re-create the dancefloor and mosh-pits of the mid-1990s, just with slower, not so good music.

If i were still in my 20s I would be in there with them but due to my age i will need to remain at the reggae sound-systems with my pint of cheap cider and some dodgy Hawaiian floral print shirt.

Good Times with Norman Jay was where I tended to head for, not sure if he still does Carnival anymore.

Good times is gone as is Sancho Panza.

The area got redeveloped and it just wasn't viable to put those huge crowds into the area anymore.

Interesting interview with Norman Jay back in 2015 where he acknowledges the safety issues which pushed them out and says he was surprised they lasted as long as they did:

Ahh, Rampage.
One of the most watched by police sound systems I've seen.
Look up at the rooftops on the surrounding buildings if you're there.
For some reason its the patch or turf of a lot of the gangs, and can be quiet daunting when they come through.
I've been many times, back when the steamers would come through and nick your stuff. It's nowhere near as bad as it used to be.
I've also been there with a bunch of mates and had some great times with total strangers, which were to all intensive purposes- gangs.

Not sure if anyone's seen this before but apparently even the crustaceans at THE NH Carnival feel the need to protect themselves from harm...

To be fair to the system they've been telling people to look up there when it gets too much for years

I always laugh when the agitators try and depict the Metropolitan Police's actions to police the event as racist, when in fact, the event can only continue because of their diligence. It would have finished years ago if the police didn't work to keep people safe.

If they said "Anyone caught with Acid will do a minimum of 10 years and anyone even threatening to use it will do a minimum of 18 years and we will be doing random spot checks." No one would take it.
