Anyone sane should be questioning $50bn+ more defence spending from the USA...
Once you unpick the hype, it is only about $15-20b more than Obama planned. A relative rise barely above inflation.Oops-Jeff sessions conveniently 'forgot' to tell the senate when asked (under oath too) about meetings he had with the Russian ambassador.
Sessions is also the person ultimately in charge of the FBI investigation over whether Russia influenced the American election.....

AG Sessions allegedly lied to congress during his appointment hearing about having no contact with the Russians during the election campaign. According to WaPo he met the Russian ambassador twice. Sessions now claiming he meant he had no contact about 'election issues'.
This is a similar scenario to the one that got Flynn sacked.
Edit: beaten to it!

I know the this has far more to do with honesty and if this guy can be trusted. But what is it with the left and trying to start world war 3 with Russia. Would it be such a bad thing to have a bit more of a positive relationship with them. What did Obama do every time Russia called, said "No I'm not speaking to them, they are nasty and bad."?Sessions is also the person ultimately in charge of the FBI investigation over whether Russia influenced the American election.....

Perhaps the "left" is not trying to start anything and never was? Putin is out for Putin, not the US.
If there is to be any credibility to this business with Putin, or not, then a fully independent inquiry perhaps. Should have been from the start if the GOP think they are in the clear.

I'd say it's less to do with the fact that he had contact and more that he, while under oath, stated that he hadn't had any contact at all.
The defence is that he met with Kislyak in his role as member of the Senate armed services committee, not in a Trump campaign capacity. WaPo has contacted all 26 members of that committee and of the 20 who replied, none of them met Kislyak last year. Which while not debunking Sessions' defence doesn't do anything back it up either. This one could be interesting.
Interestingly I heard George Bush commenting on all this recently stating that the Press were there to hold him to account whether he agreed with them or not.
I have a friend in the States that is a hardened Republican (many guns, horses and is very Catholic) that won't hear a bad word said about Trump at all and believes that Nigel Farage is just what we (the UK) needs for our President. I have questioned him about Trump's glaring errors in truth and he gets very defensive of him.
It's all bonkers!
And the guy that "forgot" to mention about meeting the Ambassador - I heard his reply and from what I understand he "never met the russians to discuss the election". Overlooking the fact that, apparently, not one of the other members of the armed services committee felt it necessary to talk to the Russians - I mean, why the hell would they need to? "Yeh, we're going to bomb you, is that ok?"

Wonder how this leaked out; is Mr Putin being a little mischievous?
Putin plays chess, while the Americans play checkers.
Commentary in some press that the Obama admin made sure enough info on the contacts with Putin were left lying about in case the new admin swept it under the carpet.Putin plays chess, while the Americans play checkers.
Trump going to tweet #leak #unfair #sosad.........

The Dow has just seen its fastest 1000-point run-up for the index in its entire history.
The index has risen ~17% in ~4 months... The average rise for the Dow in any 4-month preiod for the past 100 years is ~2%.
There is a huge "Trump bump" for the world's stockmarkets.
Trump has added trillions to global wealth since he became President.
He's created expectations of increased corporate profits. Bit early to judge whether that translates into reality. The index has risen ~17% in ~4 months... The average rise for the Dow in any 4-month preiod for the past 100 years is ~2%.

Snowflakes must be doing their nut.
Trump is looking ever more presidential.
And the stockmarket is soaring to record highs, adding $3 trillion dollars in ~4 months.
That's a really crap chart to show. isolating it like this just creates loads of questions.Trump is looking ever more presidential.
And the stockmarket is soaring to record highs, adding $3 trillion dollars in ~4 months.
And saying st like a record high etc is ridiculous seeing as the DOW is generally on an upwards trajectory anyhow.
Much more interesting to look at the Dow over 5 years or it's max.

What I would draw from this is how badly it did just before and as Obama came in in 2009, (See here in the UK we don't have to be idiotically binary in our political opinions) then with some huge issues in late 2015 early 2016, though actually all of 2015/2016 looks like a slowing.
Trump seems to have spurred on the growth to continue as it was doing pre Obama, with a nice kick start.

Must have been a slow news day yesterday, all the Beeb had on on him at one point was film of him rehearsing his speech in his car! News??!
To be fair, when you have even Van Jones commenting positively on the president's speech, the amount of fake news that can be generated is minimal.Don Lemon had a nice spate of cognitive dissonance while on air though. So us impartial observers were not let down entirely.
