It will be at least another two weeks before any semblance of actual normality returns.
That I can bare, but I have important payments I need to make that I can't use cash for and now have no idea when I'll have sufficient funds showing to make them

Your best bet will be to go in to a branch speak to the branch manager and ask them to sort it out for you. I realise its inconvenient but its your only option.

Stress testing, load testing, boundary testing, whatever the want to call it it should be done. However when I have asked for identical hardware, network, software and data setups for Test/UAT systems only to get them rejected due to cost all I can do is shrug and point to the fact I asked for proper testing and they wouldn't sign it off. Amazingly the request is quickly signed off after the first mess.
Totally agree..... Generally no hope. TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) has meant that UAT systems are not comparable to PROD. I worked in global trade capture.

The banks currently are so screwed that they will unrack a cpu and associated memory depending on GHZ due to cost.

Then employ incompetent muppets from low cost centers who cause PROD outages (crap testing, crap analysis, crap all fking use) ???? Crazy

I've been down that road already, nothing to be done unfortunately. The branch manager I spoke with was in the exact same position. I've been able to put off the payments but without knowing when my balance is updated how can I make them at all without having to get to an ATM every few hours?

After 2 weeks or more not even looking at my RBS balance - I thought today I would. More money than I expected to be in there...so possibly a debit card or DD payment hasn't gone out. Recent BACS payment has gone in without problem.
I'm sure it will be sorted so will just wait till I get my bank statement to check on things smile

I know that there were a lot of rumours (which I believe proved to be unfounded) about RBS being hacked at the time last year.
Odd that it should happen on a day when it was so heavily in the news though?
