Hmmm that figure has disappeared now
Apparently that is the figure for East Lothian and excludes postal votes (or so says the bbc live feed text I can see on my phone)

Why, if it's a no vote surely they wind up disappointed?

appologies if this has already been covered but....whatever the outcome, given that there will still be a lot of them that don't agree, why doesn't the rest of GB get to have a say?

Hopefully!

Just returned from a nice meal in edinburgh and there was very little mention of the poll - there's definitely confidence that there will be a no vote.

The coverage on the bbc here (same as the rest of the UK?) is like a very poor low budget version of the usual action polls.
Scotland is getting different coverage. Rest of UK gets Edwards/Vine/Neill etc.

He will spin it that it is a great day for Scotland or some such. I don't even think he really wants to win when he could just blame everything and everyone for all of Scotland's ills instead of actually doing anything about it.

Great thanks - turned onto news 24 away from what seemed like local news!

I can see why you say that, given that 40+% support will been seen as a lot.

But do you think the SNP will really remain popular having put everyone through this turgid tsunami of lies?

Or will a much higher turnout at the next holyrood elections - which seems likely - see them out?

I suppose one of the downsides of a No is that Salmond's bluff on the pound and EU will never really be exposed, so he might yet get away with his outrageous lies. There is a fair chance his complicit civil servants - who seem to have thrown their code of conduct out of the window - will all be quickly sacked to deter any further government sponsored deceit of the Nation.

So, maybe the SNP are dusting off the scapegoat list....

BBC bias...
Nasty Tories ...
Westminster.....

The blame game will start and Salmond will try and come out of it smelling of Rose's.

Bookie odds are lengthening, doesn't look like independence will be happening.

hehe

BBC: "there's no exit poll, we didn't think it would work with a one off event"

Translation: We were too tight to pay for it.

Way too early to tell IMO. I think it will be very close and the result will only be known when all 32 local authorities have declared their figures.

Hoping for a 'No' vote. Was going to go to bed and get up early for the result but don't think I'll sleep!

I think it will be a walk over for the no vote but agree the SNP will be the real winners regardless due to the panic of opinion polls and more devolved powers promised.

Good!

I have a feeling the yes vote has been over stated.

Yes, but not the result they were really hoping for.

I heard that Salmond has recently bought a place in Canada.

May we all live in interesting times...

The "No" camp has won. Congratulations.

There will be calls for a 2nd vote. At that point, England, Wales, NI and the islands must stand firm and implement a UK-wide vote. If part of Scotland wants to break up the UK, I want a vote on it. It is my UK as much as your UK.

The BBC/ITV program's are fairly pointless aren't they?

They haven't got a thing to report and probably won't for hours!
