I'd have thought if it wasn't Brand she was talking about she could easily say so without risk of repercussion. Whether she would might be another matter.

Against my better judgement, I read that "article" yesterday.

"Not prepared to name them but everyone who knew she'd said given them a piece of her mind thought she was right for doing so"....

Isn't doing that exactly why those who abuse their positions/are wrong uns get away with it for so long.

Name them. If you have no evidence and it's all third party, get those who have the evidence to name them and give them support in doing so.

But surely doing what she does in that article is the worst of all options?

By my reckoning, this is the fifth or sixth time we've had what I imagine to be a midde aged white guy riff on the theme of 'Why don't they just go to the Police?'

Everyone seems to be looking at everyone else expecting them to say something. That's how people get away with these things, isn't it? Everyone too frightened to say something for fear of their career tanking.

For serious stuff like this, is that really good enough (of anyone, not just her)? Especially given all the st the industry and, most importantly, the victims of these behaviours have gone through.

Katherine Ryan has repeatedly spoken about how much of a help Jimmy Carr was to her when she was breaking out.

I've also read somewhere that it was Brand that Ryan was talking about and it named the show they both worked on. Can't remember either the show or the source of that information for the life of me now though.

On the face of it loads of people knew, one spoke up - challenging Brand repeatedly on camera if the reports are accurate.
And she's the one you choose to target for doing nothing.

I don’t really understand why he continued to be employed if it was well known he was trouble. My memories of ten, twenty years ago when I might have seen him on shows was that he was very Marmite. I can’t really believe he was such a crowd puller that he couldn’t possibly have been dropped or excluded from being invited.

at the time i didn't agree with the way she did things (on both her podcast & Theroux doc) as the internet threw a lot of st & names around ...Brand & a couple of others were the main names, not nice- but i guess sometimes the ends justifies the means & tbh i can't now see a better way (i suspect she also knew what was coming & that Brand was indeed being investigated by journalists & she'd probably been already asked off the record by them too)

Well, yes, I don’t. As I typed above, if it was so well known that he was so much trouble I don’t see why he wasn’t just dropped. He isn’t royalty. Just a celebrity. One among very many. The fact it’s front page news today is due to the nature of the allegations and his celebrity.
