well let's add a few things up for you zee:
kid was jaywalking (minor misdemeanor to be fair), actually walking down the centre of the road not exactly guaranteed to increase your life expectancy
assaulted a cop (if we believe the cop)
held up a convenience store
if he'd not done either of the 1st 2 he'd still be alive. If he'd continued with #3 he'd likely have ended up dead as well
Oh well then. Case closed Your Honour! kid was jaywalking (minor misdemeanor to be fair), actually walking down the centre of the road not exactly guaranteed to increase your life expectancy
assaulted a cop (if we believe the cop)
held up a convenience store
if he'd not done either of the 1st 2 he'd still be alive. If he'd continued with #3 he'd likely have ended up dead as well
Any of those three either individually or in combination definitely deserves being shot dead.
(For the benefit of our American readers: I am using my sarcastic voice)
Above is the long and short of this whole incident, notice that the police apologists neglect the fact that his "accompanist" in the so called "Strong Arm Robbery" hasn't been charged, which points to the fact that there probably wasn't a robbery in the first place.
But then I guess a black youth in America is guilty by default.
As for assaulting a cop (if that's what happened)... well you're on your own on that one - if you're that stupid then it's Darwinism in action. As for the last issue - how else would you interpret a 6'4" 20stone bloke holding someone up by the throat? Was that just a lark and friendly greeting?
Now if we add together an earlier felony and the fact that the cop just stopped him isn't it just possible (even in your liberal state of mind) that the afore mentioned bloke thought "...fk me, the 5-0 has me by the short ones, what can I do to get out of this?" Unfortunately it went horribly wrong for him. As an aside I don't see anyone saying he didn't actually hold up said store...
As someone mentioned earlier had this been in the UK he'd have been '... a promising footballer...'
There was no "robbery"...
the owners are speaking out through an attorney about the surveillance video.
The owner of the store dispute the claim that they or an employee called 911, saying a customer inside the store made the call. They also say St. Louis County issues the warrants for the hard drive of surveillance video Friday.
But, the part I don't get is this, why are all these "highly trained" officers of the law acting in a manner pretty much guaranteed to alienate the very people they are supposed to be protecting by their quite frankly buffoonish, thuggish behavior, surely getting the local community onside would make their job so much easier.

The attorney says this market has been in the community for a long time and they hope to continue serving this community."
can you say 'st scared but their livelihood is tied up in that area and to be seen supporting the police will ensure a looting at best'

"The attorney for the owners of the store says the owners do not wish to be wrapped up in the middle of this. They are simply complying with police orders and again the attorney wanted to emphasize the 911 call did not come from the owners or an employee.

that's the best you've got, the fact is that at that time the only offense the young man was suspected off was jaywalking, now a clever lawyer, could apply some misdirection and state that the previous incident might have have affected that reaction of the dead boy, but the officer (and his superiors have stated this) had no knowledge of the incident so was only acting on the alleged offense of jaywalking The attorney says this market has been in the community for a long time and they hope to continue serving this community."

All this blaming racist cops/society whatever isn't helping anything. The rioters & looters aren't exactly making a great case for being given a greater say in how they should be policed/governed.
Your turn to try and weasel out again and blame everyone and everything

While we're speculating wildly I'd be more concerned about the audio that appears to indicate the cop fired 6, paused, fired 4 more. That's more like an execution...
Could very well be; however, I think it is prudent (not to mention required by law)that we wait for the investigation to be made public. unrepentant said:

taken in isolation yes it could sound like that, it could also mean that the victim turn toward the cop and made to assault him (again?). Again I'll state for the hard of thinking:WE
DO
NOT
KNOW
WHAT
HAPPENED
other than the fact a young man lost his life (and incidentally another man is living in fear of his). Until we find out what happened anything we say is conjecture

"The jury deadlocked at 8–4 in favor of acquittal at the state level. The acquittals are generally considered to have triggered the 1992 Los Angeles riots, in which 53 people were killed and over 2,000 were injured, ending only when the military was called in.
"The acquittals also led to the federal government's obtaining grand jury indictments for violations of King's civil rights. The trial of the four in a federal district court ended on April 16, 1993, with two of the officers being found guilty and subsequently imprisoned."

True; however, I would suggest we stick to this issue not the one 22 years ago.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SW1ZDIXiuS4

At least they shot Kajieme Powell dead and didn't torture him like Kelly Thomas:http://21stcenturywire.com/2014/02/15/la-cop-who-m...
And at least Kelly Thomas wasn't black, just a homeless man with mental health issues.

Has it been reported yet as to whether he was a promising (American) football player and/or a "soljur" ? That seems to be the standard response in the UK at least.
A number of press reports have referred to him as being an "aspiring rapper" - which I assume is the American equivalent of the UK's 'promising footballer'.BertieWooster said:
