Just had a comment removed due to it being "unsubstantiated", maybe if the moderators paid much attention to this thread at all they'd know it was 100% substantiated and totally correct.
What was it about?
I think it was along the lines of Strocky's sympathy for/empathy with Irish freedom fighters.

Shame the mods don't get rid of the Troll. To think I even tried to be nice, but he just keeps on doing it.

Jeez, what's with the excitement about a single response?! I said I'll reply soon and I will. I'll find time this week, ok.

Already discussed at length. Therefore you obviously don't read or understand the people who post. (Not) Surprised.

I found the most worrying thing about her tweet was that her first concern was that it damaged "the cause" and only as an afterthought mentioned that it was wrong.

It's the pension answer or lack of all over again.

Salmond was on the radio today complaining that Westminster hasn't done enough to support the Scottish steel industry. Other Nats have been moaning about the Government buying Chinese steel instead of buying locally. Yet when Salmond was First Minister this happened.....

Yep a contract to buy steel from China instead of sourcing it locally.

Did EU driven public procurement rules mean local steel could not be used?

No longer a problem once we are out of Europe?

As I understand it, no. The SNP offloaded all responsibility - and accountability - to the FCBC private consortium, thus circumventing any procurement rules that a public body might be subject to. FCBC could have offered the contract to Dalzell if they wanted to.

Here's the real kicker though. Nicola Sturgeon has said she will "leave no stone unturned in our efforts to keep the plants open and support the 270 staff". Thing is, Dalzell steel works is the only rolling plant in the entire UK that can produce the necessary grade of steel for Trident submarines.

Is Nicola being backed into a political corner here?
