I know there are probably problems with the idea that I haven't forseen, but I have had exactly the same idea myself. It does rankle that hard earned tax money goes to dossers, while the roads and pavements are full of rubbish. If you drive up sliproads on a lot of motorways in this country there is st everywhere.
Make the doleites pick up the rubbish, then give them cheap food and acess to the internet and phones as their dole payment so they don't starve and can look for a job, rather than loads of money for them to doss around, buy drugs and drink. The ones who can't be arsed to work or contribute just get some grain. The ones who clean up get grain, with some beans, bread etc chucked in. Nothing too fancy, but enough for existence.

Frankly I'd be quite happy to do a couple of days a week for my dole, perhaps volunteering for a charity or similar.
Frankly whatever the charities would have you think, they don't want just anyone.

Wifey does a day a week for the CAB, and there was a proper interview and lots of applicants are not suitable.
Of course there are a great many people you would rather not have working, but I'm sure anyone who is on Jobseeker's would be capable of doing 16 hours a week of litterpicking on a verge, for example. I have far too much spare time on my hands even after spending a few hours a day trawling job websites and newspapers. I go and walk around the block in the city centre for an hour or two just for a change of scenery.
I don't want to sound patronising, but why not contact AGE and ask if any old dears need a hand with walking their dog. I mean, if you are going to walk for 2 hours, there could be a point to it.

option one = workhouse
option two= take all the jobs the polish etc came here to to do
because you were too feather bedded, lazy, stupid and indulged
to do.
Cut all child related benifits, house single mothers in hostels instead of all expenses paid houses, give 12 monthes notice, increase minimum
wage...

In answer to the OP's original question, I conclude that he (I assume it is a 'he') is indeed stupid. I base my decision upon a review of the topics he has started, his vocabulary, grammar, spelling and grasp on reality. Hope this helps.

be implemented to dole scroungers who cba to work?

For the ones who havent somehow claimed disability for 'depression/made up st' (I know depression is real but not in all these chavs it isent), why doesent david cameron arrange that they clean up litter in the street or undertake community service or they wont recieve thier dole money?

The streets would be cleaner, it would give a push for the chavs who cba to work to at least attempt to look for a different job and they would be working for the money they scrounge?
Thought the Government had already introduced this work idea, Back to work program.

Other benefits available for the single person

Attendance Allowance
Carer's Allowance
Child Benefit
Child Tax Credit
Council Tax Benefit
Disability Living Allowance
Housing Benefit
Income Support
Jobseeker's Allowance
Help specatcles
Help with dentistry
Help with prison vists
Help with wigs and prostheses
Help with costs of adult education

As for the disabled perhaps we could have a large box to save on the costs of boxes. wink
Attendance Allowance is the pittance given to elderly disabled people instead of DLA - do the costs of living with disability magically reduce when you turn 65, I wonder?
Carers allowance is all of about £50 per week and you only get it if you're providing more than a full-time job's worth (35+ hours) of care to someone WITHOUT PAY. Which of course also totally precludes work or jobseeking.

It rankles and in theory its a good idea.
The biggest flaw to the plan is that all those jobs are currently done by employed people.
So you are simply putting those people out of work.
Thus you would end up with someone made redundant from teh council litter picking people being forced to pick up litter for free.
Doesn't quite work.

I think the solution is a far less generous benefits system. FOod and clothes vouchers and shared accomodation. Thats the only way it would pay to find a low-wage job

Perhaps we should abolish tax credits as that is where the vast majority of the money that goes to the DWP is used, instead of the comparatively tiny quantity that goes into unemployment benefit, but is much easier to vilify with daily mail readers.

Yes there are people gaming the system but there are people who are using it because they have no other choice. I know one such person who went from being a 60k a year unix admin to claiming JSA, because the nurse (instead of the dermatologist they were promised) reviewing the case for disability allowance decided to classify the auto immune condition they had which causes highly pressurised pustules all over the skin and made working pretty much impossible as "acne".

If you guys want to live in a place with no failsafes for losing your job, go live in the southern US. I heard they are renaming it "Jesusland".

A sliding scale down from the massive £67 per week that a single, unemployed person currently gets?

Yeah, why not, and while we're about it, we could start locking the disabled up in boxes, like they do in China too.
Do you always react this way to things?

I suppose you also believe all people in the finance industry are evil, and that anyone on above national average wage should be taxed at 98% to ensure those below it aren't worse off...

67 quid a week for doing feck all is a bad sum by your standards? Even without all the other add ons that get claimed for. How do you propose it's paid for?
I'm sorry, have I personally offended you? I expressed a point of view – namely that £67 per week hrdly puts one on easy street.

For the record, two of my closest friends are 'City types', and I'm in the 40% tax bracket myself, so I'm making my contribution ta very much.

I just don't adhere to the popular opinion on here that everyone on JSA is a feckless scrounger living fat off the workd of others. In these uncertain economic times, anyone may find themselves suddenly unemployed, and having to make do on that sort of money. It might just be a suitably humbling experience for some...
