Water Chariots greed backfiring ?
Discussion
A classic name swap.
Change the name of the original, insolvent company. That frees up the name at Companies House so that a new debt free company can be set up using the old company's former name. Causes much confusion - which is part of the reason why it's done.
Interesting that the disgruntled employee is talking about "invoices" he raised for work done for Water Chariots. Makes me think that he might not have been an employee at all - but a self employed outside contractor - which puts him in a very precarious position regarding his unpaid "wages".

If you read the thread, someone from Water Chariots actually chimed in with some info.....draw your own conclusions on it all.

Someone called me up today who is thinking of spending 75k plus on a narrowboat (from a builder not in anyway connected to us). Yet, he has never been on a narrowboat and thought a weekend 'taster' might be a good idea - good thinking. I quoted him a price of less than 50% of list price and could almost hear him spit his coffee out and couldn't retreat from the phone quickly enough. So, happy to spend 75k on a posession but not £500 on a rental (and free training to boot)
So hang on, it's normally 1000 quid to rent a floating caravan for two days? Is the bog roll 50 quid notes or something?Pesty said:
isn't 1k the usual fee for a week maybe even 2 on the broads?
That'll get you a long weekend, at peak season, near me.http://www.shirecruisers.co.uk/prices/short-break-...

I live in Limehouse and it's been interesting to watch this folly from the start. I am not surprised it has been a spectacular failure. Who was ever going to get off the DLR which goes to Stratford to pay £95 to sit on a boat that goes up the Limehouse Cut? It is not exactly a picturesque waterway. To hire one of the small boats exclusively for 7 people was £7,500! Someone has invested a lot of money into this and had their pants pulled down, it will be interesting to see what comes out in the wash.
NOT A VIRGIN acquisition then!!!GWC said:

Furthermore, security arrangements on the northern section of the waterbus route made the operation of the service from Tottenham difficult during the Olympics. Worse still, the service from Tottenham would have been totally inoperable during the Paralympics due to unsuitability for disabled passengers.
I'm a tad perplexed over the above mentioned as, a special ramp was built at the Tottenham Hale end for just this purpose. Wheelrepairit said:
An old mate of mine used to run a similar type of craft out of Waltham Abbey for boat tours, trips, events, and parties. Might be profitable for one or two craft but, not the whole fleet. If some of the craft are fitted out for holidays it could be profitable but, would think they would need to be skippered by professionals - large craft plus small waterway = carnage me thinks.
