SNP will play very hardball, will Miliband cave in? On balance I think he will, in the hope of getting his way after he has got the Queen's speech through on a confidence & supply vote
From the man who is already in hock to the Unions as the price for the leadership ( which his brother would have won without the Union Block vote being against him ) I think Ed would agree to wear a kilt at all times and change the National Anthem to Bonnie Prince Charlie if it meant grabbing power, even if fleetingly. Not so for SNP who could play absolute hard ball.

I think the way Cameron is demonising the SNP, who are the democratically elected government of Scotland and look like returning a load of MPs, is more dangerous to the union. Fear can turn to hate, and I think these tactics have no place in UK politics.
The SNP bigmouths demonise themself, they don't need any help.deadslow said:

The SNP want the Scottish to be hatedIf they can make it so that keeping Scotland in the union is a vote loser with 90% of England then no mainstream party would even entertain supporting a NO vote in the 2018 independence referendum

what happend to the Union anything good that came from this country is because of the union. If they can make it so that keeping Scotland in the union is a vote loser with 90% of England then no mainstream party would even entertain supporting a NO vote in the 2018 independence referendum
When did the Scots become socialist outside of the Glasgow shipyards they were the origin of "conservative"
Sad times for me when they seem to have one desire kill the union at any cost

They are never off the lips of the Tory front bench, and nothing positive. Being used as bogey men to scare English undecideds.
To be fair the Tories have been the bogeymen to the SNP for a lot longer. As indeed have pretty much everyone in the south of England. deadslow said:
Yes, agreed. Thatcher really started all that, and not just in Scotland. But, if folks are wanting to be sensible, they ought to stop giving the impression Scotland is a communist enclave. Its just another very ordinary bit of the UK.
Try telling the NATs that Scotland is fundamentally the same as England They even have commissioned surveys to try and prove the moral superority of the Scottish over the english
As reflected in my OP prediction the SNP seem to overshadow any debate but I'm not convinced it will be reflected in the results.
The media, Conservatives & Labour all have reasons to inflate the SNPs chances, I hope they are proved wrong, but my exposure to Scottish politics is from Scots who live and work in England.

Tories are the largest party (just) so they form a government with the Libdems with support from DUP.
My thoughts on that are, the system that holds back libdem seats when they do well should also limit their losses in reverse. The Tories will also need at least 300 seats to make it work.
Lab/SNP government will have no mandate in the RUK it would be a shambles.
