New world's steepest coaster opens in UK
Discussion
Most of the time i say the back seat.
good examples - the big one at blackpool, back left hand seat. the first drop is apsolutly brutal in that seat, as your pulled over the top of the hill, then the twisting of the train in the first drop slings right over the carrage side. rest of the ride is a scenic trip back to the station
Nemesis (the origonal one at AT), again back lefthand seat is the one, gets the biggest G force through the inversions (and that split second moment as the row infront wings to the right on the X Overs, leaving you looking at the rock face for a split second before you too roll over it
Corkscrew (RIP to the one at AT, but the same ride is still at Flamingo Land) was smoothest in the back row - but it was the front row i thought had the better ride (but much shakier)
Roller Coaster @ Blackpool - this is backseat airtime heaven - but its so smooth, shame they took alot of the joy of the ride away a couple of years ago by fitting seat belt after 80years running without any restraints.
the Big Dipper i would argue both the very front and back seats of the train are the one to get - they get airtime in different ways, floaty airtime at the front, or more fluung out your seat airtime at the back.
the Grand National tho - the place to be was front row (tho the new carrages with the individual lap bars and seatbelts ruin the airtime keeping you pinned in your seat and no moments of airtime - its taken away what made the ride fun. the old cars allowed alot more movement without danger of coming out the carrage. heck it was only in the 80s that lap restraints were fitted - before that it was just a rope to hang on to.

Dragon Kahn at Port Aventura is good. I had to queue for it on my own in the middle of a load of Spanish school children because my mate is a pussy. Ignorant little sods that kept trying to push in.

The Incredible Hulk coaster at Florida is about my limit for coasters. Anything more extreme than that is a no-go for me.
I bottled that! Went on most others over there though.I tend to not like rollercoasters though, I hate not being in control.

How can it be the "world's steepest coaster" if it's at 100 degrees? 90 degrees is as steep as you can get - 100 degrees is just 80 degrees upside down.
Exactly. Sounds like a triumph of marketing bull over reality. You cannot get steeper than zero degrees vertical. If I tie myself upside down in a train can I claim it's the steepest drop as it's actually 180 degrees inversed?!
This is the best one I've been on.
The vid is worth a watch. All those poles really look that close!

Great coaster, but feels like you've just gone several rounds with Mike Tyson when you get off. Had a headache for hours afterwards and my shoulders killed. Didn't stop me going on it four times in a day, mind. The vid is worth a watch. All those poles really look that close!

The best coasters in the world are made by either :-
B&M http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bolliger_%26_Mabillar...
OR
Premier Rides http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Premier_Rides
But them I'm probably a little bias![wink](/inc/images/wink.gif)

saw a tv program a while ago about coasters in usa, saw a couple of interest..
one wooden coaster went out into the woods for a fair way then came back
the other you start off at ground level, get shot along, goes straight up 90 degrees, then back down at 90 degrees - short ride, but looks harsh

Metal coasters suck
![yes](/inc/images/yes.gif)
except in the case of Nemesis - that is a masterpeice of a coaster.
but my favorates remain the Grand National and Wild Mouse at Blackppool

first one sounds a bit like the Ultimate (was the longest coaster in the world for a while) in Lightwater Valley Park in Ripon. Ultimate although some rate Megafobia in South Wales as the best coaster in the world.one wooden coaster went out into the woods for a fair way then came back

Second one - easy to identify - Superman: The Escape
