I wouldn't worry, the internet thing isn't true either (at least according to snopes), I suspect Muntu just forgot the wink

It's not true. Gore did have something to do with a protocol, or whatnot used on the internet.

I can't remember what, but Gore did have something to do with developing, (or at least did something to do with getting it going, or something), hence why he said he invented the internet, or what have you, all in the very loosest possible terms. It might have had something to do with legisl;ation he passed, or a committee he was on, I can't remember.

To be fair Gore never actually said he invented the internet.

That is just a urban myth.

The nearest thing he did say was that he supported government R&D that invented the internet. But because that isn't as funny no one remembers it...

He made some speeches. That's it.

The only thing of note is that he was obviously given a demonstration of a very early form of networking, and understood the potential of it, but that was obviously someone else's dream.

Universities and DoD institutions had long since been working and developing this stuff before Gore turned up one day.

That's pretty much what I said. I never said he invented it, or anything of the sort, but he had some bitpart regarding early bills, or something. Stop being so pedantic.

He didn't have a bit part in anything. The concept of networking was well under way long before this tit turned up.

And yes I will be pedantic because he has the hard of thinking that he had something to do with the internet when he didn't. If he wasn't a Democrat he'd be called a liar. He's up their with Bullet Dodging Billary.

I never said he had anything to do with the creation of the internet. Sheesh. However, he did have something to do with legislation, or what have you, regarding the internet. I agree he is a tit, and am no fan, just trying to level the argument.

Gotta love these threads.....

Did Britain have a motor industry? If so, what became of it?
You didn't watch the video did you? What has Britains motor industry or lack of got to do with Barack's claim that america invented the automobile? Unless you are actually of the opinion they did of course?

NOPE!! The first accredited production line goes to a steam traction engine manufacturer in Norfolk (can't remember the name dammit!)in the mid to late 1800s.. Ford DID however do it first on a large scale!

Nope! The Royal Navy shipyards approx 300+ years ago implemented the first production lines.
Was that before or after the workers quarrying stone for the Great Pyramid of Giza?

Half-tempted to boycott Ford on this basis myself but I suppose that would just be ridiculous nowadays!
Of all of the worlds car manufacturers, if anyone was going to boycott one as some sort of 'moral imperative' Ford would be at the top of the list. Not just because of the war either. Plenty of stuff on the web as to why.
Ford Pinto anybody? Get's warm in the back I believe but I'm assured by my dealer that's fine. Shower of bds.

Didn't GM pull a similar stunt though?

Did I hear right that he gave the Queen an Ipod? The guy has class.

So where are the comedians and pundits laying into him?
If that was bush saying and doing these things there would be pictures and internet clips all over the place with people calling him stupid.
When Bush sends more troops to Afganistan he is a baby killer. When Obama does it he is the new messiah.

What exactly has changed?

It's off topic, but yes, it was. We had defeated them in the Battle of britain, against overwhelming odds. The lend lease helped us immensely, but we were never going to be in any danger of invasion. You should look elsewhere for your history, rather than rely on Hollywood! hehe

Well, its a fascinating what-if, if the Yanks stay out of the hostilities in Europe. (but are friendly to Britain and keep us supplied).
Would seem that Nazi Germany (including occupied Europe) and the USSR are in mortal combat for years, with Britain adding its weight against Germany.
Problem is if the USSR starts to win, then what? Who do we nuke?

No.

but they helped to make it what it is today in all unsuccessful manufacturing operations. Unlike Toyota who employed Shingo to introduce Lean in 1949.
