If Valcke was aware of the payments would possibly suggest why he cancelled attending the Womens World Cup opening in Canada - fear of being arrested and sent over the border to the US?

If anyone knows where the bodies are buried you'd think it would be him.

Does that mean as a non-FIFA employee he can run off to a non-extradition treaty with the US country ASAP before he gets thrown in front of the bus?
Almost certainly. I'd also put money on an 'honorary' role once the dust has settled.

Whilst watching all these 'important' people speaking on behalf of FIFA at various press conferences, I just cannot help but not believe a single word that any of them utters.

Anyone else feel like that?

I'm just looking at them all and get the overwhelming feeling that pretty much all of them are absolutely corrupt or happily working there knowing everyone else is corrupt.

Preferably a public flogging in the centre circle at Wembley.

Couldn't agree more. When I heard Blatter said that football was, "the sport that I have loved and been involved with for the last 40 years of my life," I just laughed and said to myself, "no, you like the money/kickbacks/bribes you greasy old !"

People harp on about the Premier League having too much money floating about it etc, lets start at the governing body and work our way down. FIFA is nothing short of a world-wide disgrace, it needs to be pulled apart and rebuilt from the ground up.

Could be a trap.

He'll just wait for 48 hours, see which of his minions come out with public statements critical of him now he's resigned, and then un-resign and have the detractors skinned alive and rolled in salt.

He does, after all, enjoy huge support amongst the FIFA rank-and-file, and with the challenges facing FIFA it would be foolish to have a change of leadership now.

Or, maybe he'll stay resigned. Perhaps even Blatter wouldn't be enough of a weasel to pull a stunt like that....

(Another) Big brown envelope from Qatar and Russia to take the heat off them for a bit and make sure they get their tournaments?

You have to think someone has tipped him off that they have found damning evidence and he has decided to bow out rather than the FBI take him down. I wonder if he thinks if he jumps rather than pushed he will limit the damage?
