We have a dozen people coming on Sunday and I have decided to go Swedish with a side of Salmon, cucumber in light vinegar and dill, Janssons Temptation, meatballs and maybe some homemade pickled herring.
What else do you all suggest?
Surströmming of course What else do you all suggest?
Anyway... skagenröra and toast skagen is always popular.

Yep they've gone for own branded stuff only. Major export route now cut off to some manufacturers. Mistake imo.
Aw, boo. I was looking forward to the new Reading IKEA, shan't bother now. I order all my Scandinavian food via Scandi Kitchen in London, and Ocado carries a range of Swedish foods too. I'm pretty sure I managed to get Polly there. I got them from somewhere, definitely. Art0ir said:
I've been informed by some Swedish guys I play online with that julmust is a must for chrimbo but unfortunately it seems like all the brands sold in the UK are muck.
Go and buy some mouthwash and mix it with coke, it is rank.Don't listen to their lies, especially regarding pickled fish at this time of year either.

New border controls coming into effect - but why now? I thought Sweden was more than welcoming to migrants? What has changed?

All travellers wanting to cross the Oresund bridge by train or bus, or use ferry services, will be refused entry without the necessary documents.
But not by car...This is apparently part of a month long diary on events involving immigrants in Sweden - I cannot speak for the veracity of the info or the author, but it paints a bleak picture;

I was checked coming over by car
Yes, I did Göteborg to Fredrikshamn ferry and had to show ID for the first time ever. Also, had a meeting at Landvetter last week and saw two guys getting arrested because they were asked to show ID cards (they had been getting angry at check in staff for some reason) and they didn't have any documents. I've not seen that before. I've now got 6 weeks back in the UK now, quite looking forward to a break from all the doom and gloom here Off the back of the decision by Sweden to impose proper checks, Denmark has now followed suit and added checks on its German border!

I suppose they don't want to be responsible for a glut of people queueing up to get in to Sweden. Easier to prevent people from entering in the first place than trying to do something with them later, 'deportation' has a rather bad rep.http://www.thelocal.se/20160104/border-checks-begi...
Since Sweden and Germany were receiving the most migrants, does this mean that Germany will be having to deal with far and away the biggest number? Or will they attempt to disperse them elsewhere?

Thanks. I see what you did there I was trying to copy and paste but it was too many words.Anyway she had some minor( if we are to believe her) experiences and left.
Pity about the ones that have to stay after I get raped or raped and burned to death like in Finland.
Soz. Here ya go.
Last time I asked for help with translate on here, I got the typical ph knobhead response.
"I lived until the summer of Nørrebro and will here reproduce some of the experiences that make that I probably never going to stay there again. But before I do, I want to emphasize two things: No, I am not employed by Statistics Denmark, and this column is not based on scientific analysis, but on my experiences. And yes, dear reader, you may have lived a lifetime in Nørrebro and had one bushel wonderful experience after another. Congratulations, I am on your behalf.
It was winter when I moved to Nørrebro with my son, and we moved into an apartment with a view of Peblinge Dosseringen. From the living room, I could see people running around the lakes or promenading with their Odder prams, often with a cup of coffee in hand.
It was summer, and one day I went over to the playground with my son and two bonus daughters. It was hot and they fetched water from the tap to build a lake, which they stuck their bare feet down. Soon the two boys of about eight and ten years to obstruct the game, and I grabbed course in. Where are your parents, I asked. They laughed. Soon after, the boys at play stand where they amused themselves by pushing the other kids down. I went to them and said that they should behave, and that I had been watching them. It had an effect, unfortunately, short-lived, because soon they stood and spat on the slide so the children could fly straight into their saliva and snot. Cool. Several of the other parents took their children and left the playground, and I considered for a moment the same. But I wonder frankly not be bøllet out of two minors.
It ended up that we went. Not because my kids were tired of playing, but because one of the boys fished his iPhone from his pocket, spoke into it in Arabic and signaled to me that my throat would be cut. The notion that an older brother had to get his ill-mannered brothers to the rescue was not something I wanted to count on. So we went. The playground was almost empty, only the two boys were back.
It was autumn, and my son came one day something flabbergasted home. He was then nine years and had repeatedly been in the grocery store that was nearby. But this time he had been stopped by a group of boys who had charged him his mobile. Since there was an unattractive old mobile, they had just thrown it on the ground and said something unintelligible before being toppled on to the next easy victim. Of course put the experience in my son, just as the other had done it.
And like a number of other experiences did it. Our car got tires cut up. Bicycles were stolen. We did break one night we slept with open balcony door - thieves climbed up to the first floor and stole mobiles, computers, iPads while we were sleeping. Lucky that nobody woke up, particularly children.
So goodbye Nørrebro. Farewell town with more crime than the rest of Copenhagen. Goodbye school district how absurd many boys leave school functionally illiterate and beyond to - what? Where there is only gangs but also children gangs.
And yes, I'm probably just a middle-aged, white, middle-class type, acting in Irma, have pension savings and dengse in private school. So what? Before I moved to Nørrebro, I thought that poor integration could A quick fix with social inclusion and a nicer tone of the debate. I do not any longer.
Today, I think that a major constraint distribution of bilingual students is the way forward, and I believe that private schools must take responsibility and provide scholarships to students from resource poor households from homes with satellite dishes in place of Proust. I believe in stricter requirements for school attendance and believes that roughly truancy must have economic implications for families who leave their children in the lurch by letting them hang out on the street instead of attending school.
I believe in anything but unworldly humanist types who sit with cafelatten in Børge Mogensen sofa and teaches others that the culprit is the greatest sacrifice and that it is associated with a poor human nature to make demands.
For it is not true. On the contrary."
