Time for Russia to prove their missile defence shield works ? Switch it on and shoot down anything unauthorised.

Putin and Netanyahu have the deal that Putin won't meddle in syrian-israeli conflict.

Syria and Israel are still officialy at war so this is just job as usual, Israel strikes Damascus and neighbourhoods every now and then, since it's close to the border they don't even cross into Syria just fire from israeli airspace.

It's bad when you have your capital such poorly placed strategically speaking...

Yes but my understanding is Russia have deployed their missile defence system which when activated can track and shoot down any missile fired over most of Syria and definitely over Damascus. They wont be taking any action against Israel they would simply be protecting Assad/Syria from Israeli missile strikes.

At least the ceasefire is holding - the CIA and their head chopping wahhabi buddies won't be happy.

That ceasefire is mostly the fault of V.Putin, how dare he actually bring about a peaceful resolution to this conflict. No wonder the neo cons do not like him.

Cannot have this peace thing spreading, those moderately fundamentalist jihadi allies just might contemplate new kufar enemies, with all those freedom armaments they were supplied with.

it can't, Lattakia is not that close to Damascus, S400 is for shooting airplanes and ballistic missiles not air-to-ground, Pantzir can take them down but it has very short range

besides even if they could they wouldn't shoot israeli missiles unless they threatened russian forces

Meanwhile news back in Aleppo now its in safe hands:

'The Syrian city of Aleppo was completely liberated from western backed jihadists almost a month ago now. Since the city's liberation, the situation there has been largely ignored in the mainstream media. International humanitarian organisations are still not providing civilians with humanitarian aid. Not to mention the corporate media which can no longer use the situation for propaganda purposes so they disappeared...'

If it was really that bad there and aid couldn't get in/Assads men a nightmare etc why is it ignored now. oh wait - because the suffering of civilians was largely made up.

Amazingly quiet in the mainstream news about what is happening in and around Raqqa and Palmyra

http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/over-600-isis-militants-k...

Could this all come to an end with the changing of the guard in Washington and abandoning their covert support for insurgents/rebels/freedom fighters in the area?

I suspect you will see a rapid degradation of ISIS and associated "moderate groups" fighting ability, now that the Nobel Peace prize winner and Co. are no longer at the helm. I guess he will finally be worthy of the accolade. Obama was an improvement on Bush Jnr, (not all that difficult) as regards starting wars, so maybe Trump will carry on the improving trend, lets hope so.

Maybe the hope of better times to come?

"Aleppo has changed since the government and its allies won the battle for the city last month.
It no longer feels like a wartime city. Outgoing artillery fire is still a steady drumbeat, aimed at rebel front lines that are not far away.
The country is at war. But Aleppo's war is over. In the ruins, people are thinking about the future.
Slowly but steadily, some of Syria's millions of displaced people are returning, desperate or optimistic, or both."

So, if they dont feel safe under Assad why are they returning.

IMHO the same goes for other cities - once the beheading nutters are destroyed people will go home and the European refugee movement will completely reverse. So the effort needed to be put into getting rid of the nutters to start with, not supporting them.

Posted up yesterday.

In the Qalamun mountains northeast of the Syrian capital.

Quantum's moderate Islamists firing on moderate Islamists.

In fact you don't have to understand Arabic to hear that Daesh (IS) is the target in this video.

The TOW operators are in fact Syrian (not foreign jihadists), yes, backed by the US, Turkey and other players in this mess called Syria.

There looks like a previous hit in the background.

Personally I want IS to be exterminated but I don't think it ever will. We're not talking the Baader Meinhof group here.

According to the video description that's the Free Syrian Army firing on Daesh.

It's claiming they fired on "the bulldozer" which is pretty unlikey as he was captured last year by the Syrian Army.

All I can see is an expensive missile hitting a pile of dirt in the desert and some chump wailing God is great far too many times sounding like he's going to wet himself.

God is great - not usually SAA as they don't rely on a sky fairy to give them bullet proofing.

Ooooh, another PH armchair foreign policy hawk - sorry pussy.

I have a buddy back from those parts just last week. I reckon his decompression will be quite a few months after what he saw happening to civvies. Mind you, he's probably a fking liar too eh?

I'll show him your post hero.
