Indeed. I can't see him becoming some sort of living legend as posters above seem to think. He looks around 5'9" and 11 stone. Outside of his small area of Greater Manchester and without his mates to support him and without a gun in his hand I bet he's nowhere near as tough as he thinks he is. With just his wits and his fists I imagine he'd be a much smaller fish in a much bigger pond. The idiot. He'll be someone else's pawn soon enough. That's probably his wisest option, to be honest.
He's obviously very agressive and has no qualms about killing people. This puts him above the majority of even average prison population. He already started getting a reputation.

I presume he'll be going to Franklin, Durham?

Hard place to live for 30 years, he may well be killed inside.

RIP the victim and condolences for the family. no punishment, Capital or otherwise is suitable unfortunately. May he burn in hell.
Maybe he'll meet this pair in Durham?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-tyne-18808886
That's exactly who i am hoping he'll meet inside.

i know a few prison officers at Durham. I have little doubt 'Psycho' will have a very hard time. The officers know how to deal with people like this. As do the inmates. Don't forget there are a lot of psychos and murderers already inside. He is not going to be the hardest man inside, however he will be the biggest target.

Except he doesn't have a gun now. He might bully some junkies a bit, but there are plenty of people in prison who are much bigger and harder than him.

He won't be in with the average though - given his crime he'll be in a Cat A prison with all the nastiest segments of the prison population.

You seem to think I hold him in high regard, that's quite far from the truth. My post was based on knowledge of prison life, yours seems to be more imagination and wishful thinking. I can tell you now, he'll do well in prison. He won't take many beatings, he won't get stabbed, he'll be taken under the wing of someone higher up the foodchain and will be more or less untouchable. In time, he'll be running a hall himself.

PH what do to think the chances are that he'll become a prison bh on the way, or would that just be wishful thinking? I ask out of personal interest as a good friend was recently murdered by a similar toe-rag and said toe-rag is due into the prison system fairly soon for a long term 20+ stay .. I can only live in hope!

PistonHeads? Thread in response to a heinous crime? That'll be page upon page of poster's imagined sexually violent revenge scenarios I'm guessing?

I know a few prisoners similar to Stapleton, none of them are truly anyone's bh. Some aren't taken seriously, some are, but they're all feared. Reputation matters a great deal, it doesn't matter how big or hard someone is, they're still afraid of the unpredictable nutters. Stapleton will have to serve some time in the lower echelons of the hierarchy but he'll never be the bh.

It looks like he's fitting in well already, obviously going for the early release as a reformed, remorseful good character deal.

Here's what will really happen him in jail...

He's quickly establishing himself as a man not to fk with. He'll do a lot of time in various segregation units as he gets ghosted from establishment to establishment. Some prisons will try him in mainstream for a while before he fks someone up, almost certainly killing again, adding to his legend every time. His reputation will follow him and he'll become feared and respected amongst the prisoners.

In time, he won't have to be the psycho any more, he'll have built enough of a legend to allow him to run a pretty lucrative business inside selling drugs and mobiles.
It could well be true, but he'll never have sex again. Or at least not with a woman.

Well I'm impressed. I didn't think he could read.

"Stapleton said he got the recipe from a book he said he had borrowed from the prison library - notorious criminal Noel "Razor" Smith's autobiography."

Why the fk do they have books like this in the library. might as well list the terrorist handbook while they are at it.

Is it me? seriously who the fk is in charge of these things getting paid probably 100k plus but not the common sense to keep books like this out of there.

Wasnt that attack was done before the latest sentence, in order to make him look insane as a defence against walking up to the student and shooting him?

Rather than him just doing it now since the life in prison sentence he just got.

I thought that too. Do they have "Scum" in the prison video library too? And a Hall of Fame of our top gangsters, with bios, motivational speeches and wing tactics?

Unbelievable, someone should get a grip of this sort of nonsense.

I actually just finished reading Noel Smiths two books. They're not exactly a glorification of crime or prison and are actually pretty good. They also tell the tale of his successful rehabilitation from a violent armed robber into writer, so they're perhaps pretty good reading material for violent prisoners. Unfortunate that this idiot got the 'recipe' from one of them but as I recall it's half a jug of sugar topped up with boiling water so it's hardly a state secret.
